Al-Fath al-Rabbani
بَابُ النَّهْيِ عَنِ اسْتِقْبَالِ الْقِبْلَةِ أَوِ اسْتِدْبَارِهَا وَقْتَ الْحَاجَةِ
Chapter on the Prohibition of Facing or Turning One’s Back to the Qiblah While Relieving Oneself
Hadith Number: 511
عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد عن سلمان الفارسي رضي الله عنه قال: قال بعض المشركين وهم يستهزئون به: إني لا ارى صاحبكم يعلمكم حتى الخراءة، قال سلمان: اجل، امرنا ان لا نستقبل القبلة (وفي رواية: ولا نستدبرها) ولا نستنجي بايماننا ولا نكتفي بدون ثلاثة احجار ليس فيها رجيع ولا عظم
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) that a polytheist mockingly said: "I see that your Prophet even teaches you the manners of relieving yourselves." Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "Yes, absolutely," he (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us that "we should not face the Qiblah nor turn our backs towards it (while relieving ourselves), nor use the right hand for cleaning, nor suffice with less than three stones, and none of them should be dung, manure, or a bone."

Chapter on the Permissibility of That in Buildings
Hadith Number: 512
عن جابر بن عبد الله رضي الله عنه قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قد نهانا عن ان نستدبر القبلة او ان نستقبلها بفروجنا إذا اهرقنا الماء، قال: ثم رايته قبل موته بعام مستقبل القبلة
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from turning our back or face towards the Qiblah while urinating, but I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), one year before his passing, facing the Qiblah (while relieving himself).

عن ابن عمر رضي الله عنه قال: رقيت يوما فوق بيت حفصة فرايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم على حاجته مستقبل الشام مستدبر القبلة
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says: One day I climbed onto the roof of the house of Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) and saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) facing towards the direction of Shaam and with his back towards the Qiblah while relieving himself.

Hadith Number: 514
((وعنه من طريق ثان) بلفظ) لقد ظهرت ذات يوم على ظهر بيتنا فرايت رسول الله قاعدا على لبنتين مستقبلا بيت المقدس
(Second chain) Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: One day I climbed onto the roof of my house and saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sitting on two bricks and relieving himself facing towards Bayt al-Maqdis.

وعنه ايضا قال: رايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يتخلى على لبنتين مستقبل القبلة
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sitting on two bricks, facing the Qiblah, relieving himself.

Hadith Number: 516
عن ابي قتادة رضي الله عنه، انه راى النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يبول مستقبل القبلة، قال ابو عبد الرحمن: قال ابي: ثنا إسحاق يعني الطباع مثله، قال: اخبرني ابو قتادة
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) urinating while facing the Qiblah.

Hadith Number: 517
عن عمر بن عبد العزيز انه قال: ما استقبلت القبلة بفرجي منذ كذا وكذا، فحدث عراك بن مالك عن عائشة رضي الله عنها، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم امر بخلاءه ان يستقبل القبلة لما بلغه ان الناس يكرهون ذلك، (وفي رواية) قالت: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((قد فعلوها؟ استقبلوا بمقعدتي القبلة))
Umar bin Abdul Aziz, may Allah have mercy on him, said: For such a long time, I have not turned my private parts towards the Qiblah, but Iraq bin Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, narrated that Sayyida Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: When the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, learned that people disliked facing the Qiblah, he, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered that“his, peace and blessings be upon him, latrine be constructed facing the Qiblah.”In another narration: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:“Have people started thinking like this? Then turn my seat towards the Qiblah.”

Hadith Number: 518
عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((من استجمر فليوتر، ومن فعل فقد احسن ومن لا فلا حرج))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever performs istinja (cleansing) with stones, let him use an odd number of stones, and whoever does so has done well, and whoever does not, there is no harm."

وعنه ايضا ان النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: ((من توضا فلينثر ومن استجمر فليوتر))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever performs ablution should clean his nose, and whoever uses stones for istinja should use an odd number of stones."
