It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you have stoned the Jamrah (Aqabah), then everything becomes lawful for you except women. A man asked: And perfume? Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) after stoning the Jamrah Aqabah, his head was drenched with musk, so was that not perfume?

Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: On the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage, I applied Dhareerah perfume with my own hand to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he became halal after stoning the Jamrah of Aqabah and had not yet performed the Tawaf of the House of Allah, and also when he intended to enter into Ihram.

Narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she states that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you have performed the stoning (Rami) and shaved your head, then fragrance and other clothes become lawful for you, in fact, everything becomes lawful except for your wives.

Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, he says: When the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, performed the stoning of Jamrah ‘Aqabah and sacrificed the animal, he had his hair cut. He first turned the right side of his head towards the barber, and the shaved hair from that side he gave to Sayyiduna Abu Talhah, may Allah be pleased with him. Then he turned the left side, and the hair from that side he gave to other people.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) shaved his head on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage.

Sayyiduna Mu’ammar bin Abdullah ‘Adawi (may Allah be pleased with him) says: On the occasion of the Farewell Hajj, I used to prepare the saddle of the camel of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). One night, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: O Mu’ammar! Tonight I found the straps of the saddle loose. I said: By the One Who has sent you with the truth, I had fastened them as before, but perhaps someone, out of jealousy for my position with you, has loosened them so that you may appoint another servant in my place. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Beware! I am not going to do such a thing. Then, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) slaughtered his sacrifice at Mina, he ordered me to shave his head. So I took the razor and stood by the head of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at my face and said: Mu’ammar! (How great is your status that) the Messenger of Allah has made you stand by his earlobe and the razor is in your hand. I said: By Allah! O Messenger of Allah! This is a blessing and favor of Allah upon me. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, indeed, I will maintain this honor for you. Then I shaved the head of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that whoever has made locks of hair should shave his head, and you people should not imitate talbeed. But Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he had done talbeed.

Tawoos says: Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): "Do you not know that I trimmed the hair of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with a broad blade?" Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "No, I do not." Then he said: "This statement is a proof against Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him)."

(Second chain) Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I cut the hair of the head of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) near Marwah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) informed him that he saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cut his hair with a broad blade. Mujahid and Ata say: We said to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): This report has only reached us from Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). He replied: Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) is not to be suspected regarding the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (i.e., he is truthful in conveying this report).
