Narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The supplication of the man of the fish, when he was in the belly of the fish, is: {لَا اِلٰہَ … مِنَ الظَّالِمِینَ} (There is no deity worthy of worship except You; You are pure; indeed, I am among the wrongdoers). Whenever any Muslim calls upon his Lord with this supplication for anything, Allah Almighty will answer his call.

Verily, I ask You on the basis that all praise is for You, You alone are the True Deity, You are One, You have no partner, You are Most Merciful, O Originator of the heavens and the earth! O Possessor of Majesty and Honor! O Living! O Sustainer! Indeed, I ask You.)" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you know what this man has supplicated with?" The people said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Him in Whose hand is my soul! He has supplicated to Allah with His Greatest Name, which, when He is called upon by it, He responds, and when He is asked by it, He gives."
