Abu Al-Ahwas Al-Jashami says: Once, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) was delivering a sermon, when suddenly he saw a snake crawling on the wall.
Ikrimah says: It is my understanding that Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated in a marfu’ (attributed to the Prophet) manner that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded the killing of snakes and said: Whoever leaves them out of fear of their retaliation is not from among us. Then Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Indeed, snakes are deformed forms of jinn, just as the Children of Israel were deformed into the shapes of monkeys.

Hadith Number: 6494
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing household snakes, except for two types: the snake with a short tail and the one with two stripes on its back, for they snatch away eyesight and cause miscarriages in women. Whoever leaves these two (without killing them) is not from among us.

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Kill snakes, especially the one with two stripes on its back and the short-tailed harmful snake, for both of them cause miscarriage and take away eyesight. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah or Sayyiduna Zaid bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with them both) saw me chasing a snake to kill it, so he forbade me from doing so. I said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has ordered to kill them, but he said that later the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing household snakes.

Imam Nafi narrates that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to order the killing of all kinds of snakes. One day, Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission from him to enter the mosque through his window and saw him killing a snake. So Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Has it not reached you that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing household snakes and ordered the killing of that snake which has two stripes on its back?

(Second chain) Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to order the killing of all kinds of snakes and would not spare any, until Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah Badrī (may Allah be pleased with him) informed him that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had forbidden the killing of household snakes.

Suddenly, a snake appeared. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) ordered it to be killed, but Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded that they should be warned before being killed.
