Chapter on the Etiquette of Seeking Permission
Hadith Number: 8288
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them both, he says: I sought permission from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Who is it? I said: It is me, me. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Me, me... what is this?" Muhammad, the narrator, says: It is as if the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, disliked the word "me."

Chapter on the Prohibition of Looking into a House Before Permission and the Threat for Doing So
Hadith Number: 8289
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever uncovers the curtain and looks into someone’s house without permission, he has committed a crime equivalent to the legal limit; it was not lawful for him to do so. And if someone were to gouge out his eye, then his eye would be wasted and without compensation. If a person passes by a door that has no curtain and sees something private in the house, he will not be blamed for the mistake; rather, in such a case, the mistake will be attributed to the people of the house.

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man looked through the curtain hanging at the chamber of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet had a comb in his hand. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If I had known that he was looking at me, I would have come close and struck his eye with this comb. Permission to enter has been legislated because of the (harm of) looking.

Kalda bin Hanbal says: Sayyiduna Safwan bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) sent me to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the time of the conquest of Makkah with milk, the meat of a fawn, and small cucumbers. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was towards the high valley of Makkah. I entered upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) without greeting or seeking permission. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go back, say "As-salamu Alaikum" and ask if you may enter. Dahhak and Abdullah bin Harith mentioned the sending of milk and venison, but did not mention cucumber.
