It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) uttered these words on the pulpit: ((وَنَادَوْا یَا مٰلِکُ۔)) … They will cry out repeatedly, "O Malik!"

It is narrated from Masruq, he says: Once a man was giving a sermon in the Great Mosque of Kufa, saying that on the Day of Resurrection, smoke will descend from the sky, which will seize the ears and eyes of the hypocrites, and its effect on the believers will be that they will feel as if they have a cold. Hearing this, I went to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and mentioned this matter to him. He was sitting reclining, but as soon as he heard this, he sat up straight and said: O people! When you are asked a question of knowledge, if you know it, then answer it, and if you do not know, then say: Allah knows best (Allah is the All-Knowing). Indeed, it is also knowledge to say "Allah knows best" about something you do not know. See, Allah Almighty said to His Prophet: {قُلْ مَا أَسْأَلُکُمْ عَلَیْہِ مِنْ أَ جْرٍ وَمَا أَ نَا مِنْ الْمُتَکَلِّفِینَ} … Say: I do not ask you for any reward for this, nor am I one of those who pretend. When the Quraysh overpowered the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and became rebellious against him, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated against them with these words: O my Allah! Help me against them by imposing on them a seven-year famine like that of Yusuf (Joseph, peace be upon him). So they were afflicted with such famine that they began to eat bones and carrion. They were so distressed and troubled that due to hunger, they would see something like smoke between themselves and the sky. Eventually, they said: O our Lord! Remove this punishment from us, we are believers. It was said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): If the punishment is removed from them, they will return to their former state. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed to his Lord, and He removed the punishment from them, but when they returned to the same state of disobedience, Allah Almighty seized them on the day of Badr. These are the situations referred to in Allah Almighty's statement: {فَارْتَقِبْ یَوْمَ تَأْتِی السَّمَائُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِینٍ … … In the hadith of Ibn Numayr, Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If this smoke were to be on the Day of Resurrection, then it would not be removed from them.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that Imam Sufyan says: It is my opinion that this narration is transmitted from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, so he, peace and blessings be upon him, said regarding {أَ وْ أَ ثَارَۃٍ مِنْ عِلْمٍ}: It refers to a letter.

Narrated from Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): It was the day of the Jews’ festival. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went towards a synagogue of the Jews, and I was with him. Our arrival displeased them. Nevertheless, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: O assembly of Jews! Tell me of twelve (12) men from among your group who bear witness that there is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; Allah Almighty will remove from you the wrath upon wrath that He has placed upon you under the blue sky. The Jews remained silent; none of them replied. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated the question, but no one answered. He asked a third time, but again there was no response. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself said: You are denying. By Allah! I am al-Hashir (the one after whom people will be gathered), I am al-‘Aqib (after whom there is no prophet), and I am the chosen Prophet. Whether you believe or deny, it makes no difference. Then he turned back, and I was with him. When we were about to leave, a man called out to us from behind. He was Abdullah bin Salam. He said: O Muhammad! Wait. He came and addressed the Jews, saying: O group of Jews! According to your knowledge, what kind of man am I? They said: By Allah! According to our knowledge, there is no one more learned in the Book of Allah and more knowledgeable in jurisprudence than you, nor was there anyone more learned and knowledgeable than your father before you, nor was there anyone more learned than your grandfather before your father. Abdullah said: Then I bear witness that this is the Prophet of Allah, whose mention you find in the Torah. The Jews immediately changed and said: You are lying. Then they denied everything and spoke ill of Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Now your word will never be accepted. Just now you were praising him, and when he has believed, you call him a liar and use bad words about him. Your word will never be accepted. Now we went out, and we were three: myself, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him). Allah Almighty revealed the verse about this: {قُلْ أَرَأَیْتُمْ إِنْ کَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللّٰہِ وَکَفَرْتُمْ بِہِ وَشَہِدَ شَاہِدٌ مِنْ بَنِی إِسْرَائِیلَ عَلٰی مِثْلِہِ فَآمَنَ وَاسْتَکْبَرْتُمْ إِنَّ اللّٰہَ لَا یَہْدِی الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِینَ} … Say,“Have you considered: if it is from Allah and you disbelieve in it, while a witness from the Children of Israel has testified to something similar and believed, but you acted arrogantly—indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.”

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I never saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) laughing openly such that I could see the uvula in his throat; he would only smile gently. And when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw clouds or wind, its effects would become apparent on his face (i.e., he would become worried). I said: O Messenger of Allah! People become happy when they see clouds or wind because they hope for rain to come, but on the contrary, I see that signs of concern appear on your face? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Aisha! I am not secure from the possibility that there may be punishment in it, while a people (i.e., the people of ‘Ad) were destroyed by wind, and that people were looking at the punishment, but (seeing the apparent clouds) they were saying: This is a cloud that will bring us rain.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him), Allah the Exalted said: {وَاِذْ صَرَفْنَآ اِلَیْکَ نَفَرًا مِّنَ الْجِنِّ یَسْتَمِعُوْنَ الْقُرْاٰنَ }, this incident took place in the valley of Nakhlah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was offering the Isha prayer {وَّاَنَّہ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ اللّٰہِ یَدْعُوْہُ کَادُوْایَکُوْنُوْنَ عَلَیْہِ لِبَدًا۔} … And indeed, the fact is that when the servant of Allah stood up, calling upon Him, they were almost about to gather upon him in layers. Imam Sufyan says: They (the jinn) gathered in layers like wool or hair.
