Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was taken on the Night Journey (Isra) towards Bayt al-Maqdis, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) returned the same night and informed the people about his journey, the signs of Bayt al-Maqdis, and about their caravans. The people said: Should we believe what Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) says? Then they persisted in disbelief. So Allah Almighty (at the occasion of the Battle of Badr) made their necks clash with Abu Jahl. Abu Jahl (mockingly) said: Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) frightens us with the tree of Zaqqum, bring it and eat dates and butter (in the African language, dates and butter were called Zaqqum). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw the Dajjal not in a dream, but with his own eyes in his real form. He (peace and blessings be upon him) also saw ‘Isa, Musa, and Ibrahim (peace be upon them). Then when he (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the Dajjal, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He was large-bodied and extremely white in complexion, one of his eyes was so protruding as if it was a shining star, the hair on his head (were so much that) he looked like the branches of a tree. I saw ‘Isa (peace be upon him), he was a young man of white complexion, with curly hair, sharp-sighted and slim with a flat belly. I saw Musa (peace be upon him), he was wheatish with a tinge of blackness and had thick hair. Hasan, the narrator, said: His hair was coarse. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: And I saw Ibrahim (peace be upon him), so the part of him that I saw, it seemed as if I was looking at my own self, as if he was just like your companion (Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him). Then Jibril (peace be upon him) said to me: Greet Malik (the keeper of Hell). So I greeted him.

Narrated by Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the Quraysh denied me regarding the Isra (Night Journey) towards Bayt al-Maqdis, I stood in Hatim, and Allah Almighty made Bayt al-Maqdis clear for me. Thus, I began to inform the Quraysh about its signs while looking at it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rabi’ah bin ‘Abbad Daili (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: Before migrating to Madinah Munawwarah, I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that during the season of Hajj, he would go to the dwellings of people in Mina and say: O people! Indeed, Allah Almighty commands you to worship Him and not associate anything with Him. There would be a man behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who would say: This man is commanding you to abandon the religion of your forefathers. I asked: Who is the man behind? It was said: This is Abu Lahab.

(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rabi’ah bin ‘Abad (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: By Allah, I remember the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) very well, that he used to go to the people in Mina, while I was a young man at that time and would be with my father. There was a man following behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who had a handsome face, squinting eyes, and two braids. Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand before a group of people and say:“I am the Messenger of Allah. He commands you to worship Him and not associate anything with Him.”The man behind would say:“He is inviting you to abandon the religion of your forefathers, to leave Lat and ‘Uzza, and to forsake your allies from Banu Malik bin Uqaysh, and to adopt the innovation and misguidance he has brought.”I asked my father:“Who is this man?”He said:“This is the uncle of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Abu Lahab ‘Abd al-‘Uzza bin ‘Abd al-Muttalib.”

Ash'ath narrates: An elder from Banu Malik bin Kinanah told me that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the market of Dhu al-Majaz, as he was moving through it and saying: "O people! Say Lā ilāha illallāh (There is no god but Allah), you will be successful." Meanwhile, Abu Jahl, throwing dust on himself, was saying, "O people! Do not let him deceive you about your religion; he wants you to abandon your gods and al-Lat and al-Uzza." But the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) paid no attention to him. We asked that elder, "Describe for us the blessed appearance of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." He said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing two red garments. He had a moderate height, a well-built body, a beautiful face, his hair was intensely black, his complexion was very fair, and his hair was thick."

It is narrated from the brother of Banu Abd al-Ashhal, Sayyiduna Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him), that Abu Jalees Anas bin Rafi’ came to Makkah Mukarramah, and with him was Sayyiduna Iyas bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him). They wanted to make the Quraysh their allies against their own tribe, Khazraj. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) learned of their arrival, he came to them, sat down, and said:“For the purpose you have come, would you like something better than that?”They asked:“What is that?”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“I am the Messenger of Allah. He has sent me to His servants. I invite people to worship Allah and not associate anything with Him, and He has revealed a Book to me.”Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned Islam to them and recited the Holy Qur’an before them. Hearing this, the young boy Iyas bin Mu’adh said:“O my people! By Allah, what you have come for, this is better than that.”Hearing this comment, Abu Jalees Anas scooped up a handful of dust from the valley of Batha and threw it on the face of Iyas bin Mu’adh. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up from among them, and those people returned to Madinah. When the battle of Bu’ath occurred between Aws and Khazraj, Sayyiduna Iyas (may Allah be pleased with him) soon died in it. Sayyiduna Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) says:“Those people of my tribe who were present with Iyas at the time of his death informed me that they kept hearing Iyas saying: ‘La ilaha illallah, Allahu Akbar, Alhamdulillah, Subhanallah,’ until he passed away. Those people were certain that he died in the state of Islam. He had understood Islam from the very gathering of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in Makkah.”

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: Allah Almighty had ordained the day of the incident of Bu'ath before the arrival of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, their group had already been scattered, their leaders had been killed, and they showed leniency for Allah Almighty and His Messenger and entered into Islam.

Narrated by Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would present himself to the people at the standing place (of Arafat) and say: Is there any man who will take me to his people so that I may convey the Word of Allah to them, for the Quraysh have prevented me from doing so? A man from Hamdan came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: Which tribe are you from? He replied: I am from Hamdan. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Does your people have strength and honor? He said: Yes, but then the man became afraid that his people might consider him insignificant, so he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I am going to my people, I will inform them of these details and then come to you next year. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Alright. So he left, and then in the month of Rajab, a delegation of the Ansar came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Ubada bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was present at the first pledge of ‘Aqabah; we were twelve men in total. We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on those matters which are mentioned in the pledge of women. This pledge took place before fighting and jihad were made obligatory. We pledged that we would not associate anything with Allah, would not steal, would not commit adultery, would not kill our children, would not fabricate slander, and would not disobey you (peace and blessings be upon him) in matters of goodness. If you fulfill this pledge, Paradise will be for you, and if you oppose in any matter, then your affair is with Allah; if He wills, He will punish you, and if He wills, He will forgive you.
