Chapter on What Has Been Reported Regarding the Prohibition of Attacking Mecca After the Year of the Conquest and His ﷺ Sermon on That
Hadith Number: 10890
Hazrat Abu Shurayh (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that (he said to Amr bin Sa'id bin As, the governor of Madinah appointed by Yazid, while Amr bin Sa'id was sending an army towards Makkah to fight against Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair, may Allah be pleased with him,) the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said something on the second day of the conquest of Makkah. My ears heard it, my heart remembered it, and my eyes saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying it. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, praised and glorified Allah, and then said: Surely, it was not the people who made Makkah sacred, but Allah Almighty made it sacred. Now, it is not lawful for anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day to shed blood here or to cut down its trees. If anyone seeks a concession for himself by using the fighting of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, as a proof, then tell him that Allah Almighty permitted His Messenger to fight in Makkah, but He did not permit you, and I too was only given permission for a part of the day. After that, its sanctity returned to what it was yesterday. Those who are present should convey these commands to those who are absent. Abu Shurayh was asked, "What did Amr bin Sa'id reply to you?" He said that Amr replied, "Abu Shurayh! I know these matters better than you. Surely, the Haram does not grant refuge to a disobedient person, nor to one who has killed and fled, nor to those who flee to avoid paying jizyah, nor to those who do not pay jizyah."

Chapter on What Has Been Reported Regarding the Pledge of Allegiance of the People of Mecca, Men and Women, and Bringing Their Children for the Prophet ﷺ to Bless Them
Hadith Number: 10891
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Walid bin Uqbah that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) conquered Makkah, the people of Makkah began bringing their children to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he might place his blessed hand on their heads and supplicate for them. I too was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and since I had applied perfume (khaluq), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not place his hand on my head! In Bukhari and Muslim, the words at this place are: وَلَا فَارًّا بِجِزْیَۃٍ "nor does it grant protection to one who flees after causing mischief." (Abdullah Rafiq)
My mother had applied this perfume to me, and because of it, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not place his hand on my head.

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Uthman bin Khuthaym that Muhammad bin Aswad bin Khalaf related to him that his father and Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taking allegiance from the people on the day of the conquest of Makkah. The Prophet was seated at a place called Qarn Musqalah. He took allegiance from the people for Islam and for the testimony. Abdullah bin Uthman says, I asked them what was meant by the testimony? So they informed that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took allegiance from the people for faith in Allah, for the oneness of Allah, and for the testimony of the servitude and messengership of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Thus, I would also say in the same way as they used to say.

عن مجاشع بن مسعود رضي الله عنه قال قلت يا رسول الله هذا مجالد بن مسعود يبايعك على الهجرة فقال {لا هجرة بعد فتح مكة ولكن ابايعه على الإسلام}
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mujashi‘ bin Mas‘ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I submitted,“O Messenger of Allah! This is Mujalid bin Mas‘ud, he wants to pledge allegiance to you for migration.”The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“There is no migration after the conquest of Makkah, however, I will take the pledge of allegiance to Islam from him.”

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyida Fatima bint Utbah bin Rabi’ah came to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to pledge allegiance. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took her pledge of allegiance according to the verse of Surah Al-Mumtahina {أَنْ لَا یُشْرِکْنَ بِاللّٰہِ شَیْئًا وَلَا یَسْرِقْنَ وَلَا یَزْنِینَ}. Out of modesty and shyness, she placed her hand on her head. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) liked this state of hers very much. At that moment, Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O woman! You should openly acknowledge these matters. By Allah, we also pledged allegiance on these very matters. She replied,“Alright, fine,”and then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took her pledge of allegiance in the light of this verse.

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha bint Qudama (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I was with my mother, Sayyida Ra’ita bint Sufyan Khuzaiyya (may Allah be pleased with her), when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was taking the pledge of allegiance from women, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: I take the pledge from you that you will not associate anything with Allah, you will not steal, you will not commit adultery, you will not kill your children, you will not slander, and you will not disobey in goodness. When the women heard these things, they bowed their heads, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: Say that it is fine, your pledge is only to the extent of what you are able. So they began to say,“Yes,”and I was also saying it with them. Then my mother instructed me and said: My dear daughter! Say this as well: as much as I am able.

Chapter on What Has Been Reported Regarding the Expedition of Khalid ibn al-Walid to Banu Jadhimah
Hadith Number: 10896
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) towards Banu Jadhimah. He went and presented to them the invitation of Islam, but they could not properly say "Aslamna" (We have become Muslims); instead, they said "Saba'na, Saba'na" (We have become Sabians, we have become Sabians). Hearing this, Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) began to kill some of them and take some as prisoners, and he handed over each prisoner to us. When morning came, he ordered us that each of us should kill his own prisoner. Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said, "By Allah! I will not kill my prisoner, nor will any of my companions kill his prisoner." Then, when the Companions came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), they mentioned to him what Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) had done. Upon hearing this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised both his hands upwards and said twice: "O Allah! I declare myself free and disassociated from what Khalid has done."

Chapter on What Has Been Reported Regarding the Battle of Hunayn, Its History, Its Cause, and Other Matters
Hadith Number: 10897
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Abdur Rahman Fahri (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the Battle of Hunayn. We kept marching on a day of intense heat. We took shelter under the shade of trees. When the sun declined, I prepared my weapons, mounted my horse, and set out towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a tent. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Peace and mercy of Allah be upon you, the time for departure has come. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), who quickly got up from under an acacia tree, its shade was like the shade of a bird. He said: May I be sacrificed for you, I am present. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Saddle my horse. He brought out a saddle, both sides of which were made of palm fiber mesh, in which there was no element of pride or arrogance. So he saddled the horse. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted the horse and we also mounted our own rides. When we stood in ranks facing the enemy in the latter part of the day and all night, both groups made utmost efforts to prevail over their opponents. The Muslims turned back and retreated, as Allah Almighty has mentioned in His Noble Qur’an . The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O servants of Allah! I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O group of Muhajireen! I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) dismounted from his horse, and the person who was closest to him related that he (peace and blessings be upon him) took a handful of dust and threw it towards their faces and said: These faces have been disgraced and humiliated. Then Allah Almighty routed the disbelievers. Yahya bin Ata narrated to Hammad bin Salamah that the children of the disbelievers narrated from their fathers that they said: The eyes and mouths of each one of us were filled with dust, and we heard a sound between the sky and the earth like the sound produced by dragging iron on an iron plate.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I participated in the Battle of Hunayn with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I saw that only I and Sayyiduna Abu Sufyan bin Harith bin Abdul Muttalib (peace and blessings be upon him) remained with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We stayed close to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and did not separate from him. He was riding his white mule, which had been sent to him as a gift by Farwah bin Naa’mah Jazami. When the Muslims and disbelievers confronted each other, the Muslims turned their backs and fled, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) spurred his mule forward towards the disbelievers. Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was holding the bridle of the Messenger of Allah’s (peace and blessings be upon him) mule, trying to restrain it a little, but he kept urging it quickly towards the polytheists. Abu Sufyan bin Harith was holding the stirrup of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Abbas! Call the people of Samurah.”(These were the people who had pledged allegiance under the acacia tree.) They were loud-voiced men. He called out:“Where are the people of Samurah?”By Allah, when they heard my voice, they immediately returned just as a cow runs towards her calf, and as soon as they arrived, they said:“Here we are, here we are!”The rest of the Muslims also returned, and fighting took place between them and the disbelievers. The Ansar called out to each other:“O group of Ansar!”Then those who called out sufficed by calling with the name of their superior and said:“O descendants of Harith bin Khazraj!”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) looked out from atop his mule towards the battlefield and said:“Now the battle has heated up.”Then he took a handful of pebbles and threw them at the faces of the disbelievers and said:“By the Lord of the Ka’bah! By the Lord of the Ka’bah! They have been defeated and have fled.”When I looked, it seemed to me as if the battle was still ongoing. By Allah, as soon as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) threw the pebbles, I saw their edge become blunt, meaning their morale was broken and their condition weakened, until Allah Almighty made them suffer defeat. It is as if this scene is still before my eyes, that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was spurring his mule behind them.
