Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us in Baqi‘ and said:“O assembly of traders!”They stretched their necks and looked. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection, traders will be raised as wicked people, except for the one who feared Allah, did good deeds, and spoke the truth.”

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“The truthful, trustworthy, and Muslim trader will be with the Prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs on the Day of Resurrection.”

Sayyiduna Ubayd bin Rifa’ah bin Rafi’ bin Khadij says: When my grandfather passed away, leaving behind a slave woman, a camel, a slave, a barber, and some land, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the earnings of the slave woman. Imam Shu’bah says: It was forbidden due to the risk of immorality. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) further said:“Make the barber’s earnings fodder for the camels.”And regarding the land, he said:“Either cultivate it yourself or leave it as it is.”

Sayyiduna Ubayd bin Rifa’ah bin Rafi’ bin Khadij says: When my grandfather passed away, he left behind a slave woman, a camel, a slave, a barber, and some land. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade (us from taking) the earnings of the slave woman. Imam Shu’bah says: (It was forbidden) due to the risk of immorality. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) further said:“Make the barber’s earnings fodder for the camels.”And regarding the land, he said:“Either cultivate it yourself or leave it as it is.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi‘ bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade Muhaqalah and Muzabanah and said: "There are three types of people who cultivate land: ① The man who cultivates crops in his own land, ② The man to whom land has been temporarily gifted, he cultivates crops in it, and ③ The man who has rented land in exchange for gold or silver (he cultivates crops in it)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If any of you owns land or a tree, he should not sell it before offering it to his partner (and associate)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever intends to sell his land, he should first offer it to his neighbor."

Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, your Lord is amazed at the young man who does not incline towards (false) desires during his youth."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There was a man who used to sell wine on a boat and would mix water into the wine. He had a monkey with him, which grabbed a bag (of dinars) and climbed up the mast of the sail. The monkey began to throw one dinar into the sea and one dinar into the boat, until he had divided the bag into two equal halves."

Abu al-Khair narrates: The ruler of Egypt, Muslamah bin Makhlad, offered Sayyiduna Rufa’i bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that he wanted to appoint him as a collector of taxes. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“The one who collects taxes is in Hell.”
