It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Abi Hathmah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When a man feels a desire in his heart to propose to a woman, he should (first) look at her; there is no harm in that."

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you sends a proposal to a woman, he should look at that quality in her because of which he wants to marry her."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Humayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When a man sends a proposal of marriage to a woman, there is no harm in looking at her, even if she is unaware of it, provided that he is looking at her because of the proposal."

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man wanted to marry an Ansari woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Look at her, for the eyes of the Ansar (women) are (generally) small."

Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a marriage proposal to a woman. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:“Look at her, for it is more likely that love will be established between you because of that.”

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If someone whose character and religion you are pleased with comes to you (with a marriage proposal), then marry (your daughter or ward) to him. If you do not do so, there will be widespread turmoil and corruption on the earth."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Choose (good) women for your offspring, marry women who are compatible, and give (your daughters, etc.) in marriage to compatible men."

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A woman is married for three qualities: ① She is married for her wealth, ② or she is married for her beauty, ③ or she is married for her religion. May your right hand be dust-covered, choose the woman who possesses religion and good character."

Abdullah bin Abu Abdullah bin Hubar bin Aswad narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather, Sayyiduna Hubar (may Allah be pleased with him), that he married off his daughter and there was a one-sided drum and a daf with them (and they were using them). When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and heard the sounds, he asked: "What is this (why are these sounds being made)?" It was said that Hubar has married off his daughter. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Announce the marriage, announce the marriage, this is marriage, not fornication." One narrator says: I asked: What is «كبر» ? He said: It is called a big drum. And a type of musical instrument is called «غرابيل» .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best marriage is the one which is the easiest."
