Allah grants understanding of religion to whom He wills
Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: When Allah intends good for someone, He grants him understanding of the religion. And (the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:) I am only a distributor, and it is Allah Who gives. And remember, this Ummah will always remain established on Allah’s command (the religion), so whoever opposes them will not be able to harm them until the Day of Resurrection arrives.

And in this narration (Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both) added that I was the youngest, so I remained silent.

Virtue of learning and teaching knowledge
`Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: The example of the guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like that of a heavy rain which falls upon the earth. The land which is clean absorbs the water, then much grass and fodder grows from it. And the land which is hard retains the water. Then Allah benefits people through it; they drink from it, give it to their animals to drink, and irrigate their crops. And some of the rain falls on another part of the land which is a barren plain; it neither retains the water nor grows any vegetation. Thus, this is the example of the person who understands the religion of Allah and benefits from what Allah has sent me with, so he learns it and teaches it. And the example of the person who does not even raise his head towards it and does not accept the guidance with which I have been sent by Allah (is like the barren, waterless land and the plain field).

Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: (Today) I will narrate to you a hadith such that after me (perhaps) no one will narrate it to you. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Among the signs of the Hour is that knowledge will decrease and ignorance will prevail, and adultery will become widespread, and women will increase in number while men will decrease, to the extent that for fifty women there will be only one man to look after (support) them."

Virtue of knowledge
Narrated Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "While I was sleeping, (in a dream) a bowl of milk was brought to me, so I drank from it until I began to feel that its nourishment was coming out of my fingernails. Then I gave the remainder to Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him)." The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: O Messenger of Allah! What interpretation did you give to it? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: "Knowledge."
