No one should be punished with Allah’s punishment.
When the news reached Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Commander of the Faithful, Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), had burned some people with fire, he said: If I were (the caliph), I would never have burned them. Because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not punish anyone with Allah's punishment." And indeed, I would have killed them as the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever changes his religion, kill him."

Burning houses and gardens.
Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that (one day) the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: "Why do you not relieve me by destroying Dhu al-Khalasah?" Dhu al-Khalasah was an idol-house among the tribe of Khath'am. It was called the Ka'bah of Yemen. Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) says that then I set out with one hundred and fifty horsemen from the tribe of Ahmas, and all of them had horses, but my feet would not stay firm on the horse. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) struck his hand on my chest until I saw the mark of his fingers on my chest, and he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed: "O Allah! Keep them firm, and make them guided and guiding." So they went there and destroyed it and burned it. Then when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was informed of this, the messenger of Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) came and reported to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "By the One Who sent you with the truth, I have come to you at a time when I left it in a state like a hollow camel or a mangy camel." Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed for blessing for the horses and horsemen of the tribe of Ahmas five times.

Dislike of disputes in battle and punishment for disobeying the Imam.
Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says that on the day of Uhud, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) appointed Abdullah bin Jubair (may Allah be pleased with him) as the leader of the foot soldiers (and they were fifty men), and said:“If you see us in such a state that birds are eating our flesh (i.e., we are defeated and killed), even then do not leave your position until I call you back. And if you see that we have defeated the disbelievers and trampled them, even then do not move until I call you back.”So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) defeated the disbelievers. Sayyiduna Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: By Allah, I saw the women running, lifting their clothes, exposing their anklets and shins. Then those with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Jubair (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O people! The spoils of war, the spoils of war! Your companions have prevailed, what are you waiting for now? Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Jubair (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Have you forgotten the command of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)? They said: By Allah, we will go to the people and collect the spoils of war. So when they went there and turned away, the disbelievers came running and the battle resumed. Thus, only twelve men remained with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The disbelievers martyred seventy of our men, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) had inflicted losses on one hundred and forty polytheists on the day of Badr: seventy prisoners and seventy killed. Abu Sufyan said three times: Is Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) alive among the people? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade answering. After that, Abu Sufyan said three times: Is the son of Abu Quhafah (Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him) alive among the people? Then he said: Is the son of Khattab (Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him) alive among the people? He said this three times. Then he turned to his companions and said: These people have been killed. So Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) could not restrain himself and said: By Allah, O enemy of Allah! Those whom you have named are all alive, and your bad day is yet to come. Abu Sufyan said: Today is revenge for the day of Badr, and battle is like a bucket (sometimes up, sometimes down), and you will find mutilation among the people, but I neither ordered it nor did I dislike it. After that, Abu Sufyan began to chant:“O Hubal! Be exalted, O Hubal! Be exalted.”The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Why do you not answer him?”The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: O Messenger of Allah! What should we say? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Say:“Allah is the highest and most majestic.”Then Abu Sufyan said: We have Uzza, and you have no Uzza. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Why do you not answer him?”The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: O Messenger of Allah! What should we say? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Say:“Allah is our Protector, and you have no protector.”

One who shouts seeing the enemy to alert others.
Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was going from Madinah towards Ghabah. When I reached the hill of Ghabah, I met a slave of Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him). I said,“Hey! How are you here?”He said that the camels of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) have been seized (I am searching for them). I asked,“Who has seized them?”The slave said,“Ghatafan and Fazarah.”Then I shouted so loudly three times that the whole of Madinah heard me:“Ya Sabahah! Ya Sabahah!”After that, I ran and caught up with the robbers, and they were taking away the camels. So I started shooting arrows at them and kept saying:“I am Salamah bin Akwa’, know this... Today all the wicked will die, accept it...”Thus, I rescued the camels from them before they could drink their milk. Then, as I was driving them back, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) met me. I submitted,“O Messenger of Allah! Those people were thirsty, and before they could drink the milk, I quickly took these camels away. So please send an army in their pursuit.”The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“O son of Akwa’! You have already overpowered them, now let them go (forgive them). They have reached their people, and there they will be entertained.”

Sayyiduna Abu Juhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I asked Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), "Do you have any revelation besides the Book of Allah?" He said, "No, by Him who split the grain (and brought forth the tree from it) and created the soul: I do not know of anything else, except for an understanding that Allah gives to a person in (understanding) the meanings of the Qur'an, and whatever is in this scroll." I asked, "What is in this scroll?" He said, "It is about blood money (diyah), the responsibility of the 'aqilah (the male relatives who pay blood money), the freeing of captives, and that no Muslim should be killed in retaliation for a disbeliever."
