Mukhtasar Sahih Bukhari
Cursing polytheists and praying for their defeat and earthquake.
Narrated from Ummul Momineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Jews (one day) came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said, "Death be upon you." So I cursed them. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "What happened to you?" I said, "Did you not hear what they said?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Did you not hear what I replied? I said, 'And upon you' (meaning, whatever you have said is upon you)."
Praying for guidance of polytheists is permissible.
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): Tufail bin Amr Dausi and his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! The people of the tribe of Daus have disobeyed and refused to follow, so pray to Allah against them." The people said, "Now Daus is destroyed," but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed: "O Allah! Guide Daus and bring them to Islam."
Prophet inviting people to Islam and prophethood and not taking each other as lords.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say on the day of Khaybar:“I will give the flag to that person by whose hand victory will be granted.”So the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) stood up hoping that the flag would be given to one of them. Then the next day, every person hoped that the flag would be given to them, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Where is Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)?”Someone informed that he has pain in both his eyes. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered that he be called. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) applied his saliva to both his eyes, and he was immediately cured (it seemed as if) he had no ailment at all. Then he asked whether we should fight these disbelievers until they become Muslim. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Proceed gently. When you reach their field, invite them to Islam and inform them of what is obligatory upon them from Allah. By Allah! If even one person is guided through you, it is better for you than red camels.”
One intending jihad but concealing the real destination, and preferring to travel on Thursday.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that it was rare for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to set out on a journey on any day other than Thursday.
Farewell of a traveler at departure.
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent us in a military expedition and said to us: "If you find so-and-so and so-and-so (he mentioned the names of two men from the Quraysh), then burn them with fire." Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then when we were about to depart on the journey, we came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to bid him farewell, and he said: "I had ordered you to burn so-and-so and so-and-so with fire, but none punishes with fire except Allah. Therefore, if you capture them, kill them."
Listening and obeying the Imam.
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "Listening to and obeying (the Imam's command) is obligatory upon everyone, as long as it is not against the Shari'ah. But if one is ordered to commit a sin, then neither listening nor obeying is necessary."
Fighting behind the Imam and using him as protection.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "We are the last among the nations in terms of time, but the foremost in rank." And he said: "Whoever obeys me has obeyed Allah, and whoever disobeys me has disobeyed Allah. And whoever obeys the (lawful) leader has indeed obeyed me, and whoever disobeys the (lawful) leader has indeed disobeyed me. And the Imam is like a shield; fighting is done from behind him, and he is a means of protection. So if he commands the fear of Allah and acts justly, then he will be rewarded for that, and if he does otherwise, then he will bear the sin for that."
Taking pledge in battle not to flee.
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that (after the Pledge of Ridwan) when we came again the following year, not even two men among us could agree on identifying the tree under which we had pledged (Ridwan). (There was some mercy from Allah in this.) It was asked: On what matter was the pledge taken from the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all), was it on death? He replied: No, rather the pledge was taken on patience.
Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When the incident of Harrah occurred, a person came to him and said, "The son of Hanzalah is taking allegiance from people on the condition of death." So Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "After the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), we will not pledge allegiance to anyone on this condition (i.e., on the condition of death)."
Narrated Salama bin Al-Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him): I gave the pledge of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (at the event of the Pledge of Ridwan). After that, I went towards the shade of a tree. When the crowd of people lessened, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“O Ibn Akwa’! Will you not give the pledge?”I said,“O Messenger of Allah! I have already given the pledge.”He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Even so (do it again).”So I gave the pledge to him again. It was asked,“Abu Muslim (this is the kunyah of Salama bin Al-Akwa’), on what did you pledge allegiance that day?”He said:“On death.”
