مختصر صحيح بخاري
Mukhtasar Sahih Bukhari
Virtue of Umar ibn al-Khattab.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about the Hour and said, "When will the Hour come?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "What have you prepared for it?" He said, "Nothing, except that I love Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "You will be with those whom you love (on the Day of Resurrection)." Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that upon hearing this, we were so happy that we had never been so happy about anything before. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says, "I love the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), and I hope that because of this love I will be with them, even though I have not done deeds like their (righteous) deeds."
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Among the children of Israel before you, there were people who used to be spoken to by the angels (they were inspired), although they were not prophets. And if there is anyone among my Ummah like them, it would be Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)."
Virtue of Uthman ibn Affan.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man from the people of Egypt came to him and said to Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): Do you know that Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) fled on the day of Uhud? He said: Yes. He said: Do you know that Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was absent from the Battle of Badr and did not participate? He said: Yes. He said: Do you know that Uthman was also absent at the time of the Pledge of Ridwan and was not present in it (he did not pledge)? Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Yes. That man said: Allahu Akbar. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Come, I will explain to you (the reality of all these matters). As for his fleeing in the Battle of Uhud, I testify that Allah has pardoned and forgiven him for his fault. And as for not participating in the Battle of Badr, the reason was that the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was in his marriage and she was ill, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) told him (to stay in Madinah with her), you will get the reward of participating and also a share in the spoils of war. And as for being absent from the Pledge of Ridwan (it is a virtue), if there had been anyone among the people of Makkah more honorable in the sight of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) than Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), he would have sent him (as his representative). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), and the Pledge of Ridwan took place after Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) had gone to Makkah. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) pointed with his right hand and said: "This is the hand of Uthman." And he struck it on his left hand and said: "This is the pledge of Uthman." Then Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to that man: Take these (three answers) with you (to Egypt).
Virtues of Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA)
Narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyidah Fatimah al-Zahra (may Allah be pleased with her) developed marks on her hands from grinding (grain), so she complained about it. At that time, prisoners had come to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so she went to him, but did not find him, so she mentioned (about a servant) to Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) and then left. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) informed him that Sayyidah Fatimah al-Zahra (may Allah be pleased with her) had come. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us when we were lying down (in our beds). I wanted to get up, but he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Stay in your place,”and he sat down between us, until I felt the coolness of his feet on my chest. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Shall I not tell you something better than what you asked me for (i.e., a servant)? When you go to your bed, say Allahu Akbar thirty-four times, Subhan Allah thirty-three times, and Alhamdulillah thirty-three times. This is better for you than a servant.”
Virtues of the Prophet’s (SAW) relatives
Narrated Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him): I and Umar bin Abi Salama (due to our young age) were left among the women. Then I looked and saw that Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) was mounted on his horse and went to and came from the Jews of Banu Qurayza two or three times. When I returned, I said, "O father! I saw you going to and coming from Banu Qurayza (what was the matter)?" He said, "Son, did you see me?" I said, "Yes." He said, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Is there anyone who will go to Banu Qurayza and bring us their news?' So I went and (brought the news). When I returned, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered both my mother and father for me and said: 'May my parents be sacrificed for you.'"
About Talha ibn Ubaidullah (RA)
Narrated Sayyiduna Talha bin Ubaidullah (may Allah be pleased with him): In some of the battles fought by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), no one remained with the Prophet (peace be upon him) except Sayyiduna Talha and Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with them).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Talha bin Ubaidullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the hand with which he protected the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) became completely paralyzed (due to being struck by an arrow).
Virtues of Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas (RA)
Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gathered both his mother and father for me on the day of Uhud. (That is, he said:“O Sa’d! Shoot (arrows), may my parents be sacrificed for you.”)
About the Prophet’s (SAW) sons-in-law
Sayyiduna Miswar bin Makhrama رضي الله عنه narrates that Sayyiduna Ali رضي الله عنه sent a marriage proposal to Abu Jahl’s daughter (Juwayriya). When this news reached Sayyidah Fatimah al-Zahra رضي الله عنها, she came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and said,“Your people say that you do not get angry over the distress caused to your daughters (and this is the result). Now Ali رضي الله عنه is marrying Abu Jahl’s daughter.”So the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم stood up (and delivered a sermon. Miswar says:) I heard that when he صلى الله عليه وسلم delivered the sermon, he said:“To proceed! I married one daughter (Sayyidah Zaynab رضي الله عنها) to Abu al-As ibn al-Rabi’, and he spoke the truth to me. And Fatimah al-Zahra’ (رضي الله عنها) is a part of me (whatever distresses her, I dislike as well). I do not like that she be hurt. By Allah! The daughter of the Messenger of Allah and the daughter of the enemy of Allah cannot be united in marriage to one man.”So Sayyiduna Ali رضي الله عنه broke off that engagement.
Narrated by Sayyiduna Miswar bin Makhrama (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) mention his son-in-law from Banu Abd Shams, Abu Al-As bin Al-Rabi' (may Allah be pleased with him), and he praised him, saying that he fulfilled all the rights of being a son-in-law. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whatever he said, he spoke the truth, and whatever promise he made, he fulfilled it."
