Mukhtasar Sahih Bukhari
Virtues of the Prophet’s (SAW) servant Zayd ibn Harithah (RA)
Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says: A physiognomist (from the tribe of Mudlij) came to me while the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was also present, and Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid and Sayyiduna Zaid bin Haritha (may Allah be pleased with them both) (the father and son) were lying under a single sheet (their faces and bodies were covered except for their feet). The physiognomist said,“These feet are from one another (i.e., they are related).”The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was very pleased with this and liked it, and then he related this incident to Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her).
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prepared an army and appointed Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) as its commander (who was young and of tender age). Some people criticized the leadership of Usama (may Allah be pleased with him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "(O people!) If you are criticizing the leadership of Usama, then you had also criticized the leadership of his father before him. By Allah! Indeed, he (Zaid, may Allah be pleased with him) was worthy of leadership and was among those most beloved to me, and after him, this one (Usama, may Allah be pleased with him) is also among the most beloved of people to me."
Virtues of Usama ibn Zayd (RA)
Narrated from Ummul Momineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that when a woman from the tribe of Makhzum committed theft, people said, "Who will intercede with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on her behalf (so that she may not be punished)?" No one had the courage to mention this to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so Syedna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) spoke to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, among the Children of Israel, when a noble (influential) person committed theft, they would let him go, but if a poor person committed theft, they would cut off his hand. If (in place of this woman) my own daughter Fatimah al-Zahra had committed theft, I would have cut off her hand as well."
Narrated from Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would pick him and Sayyiduna Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) up and say: "O Allah! Love both of them, indeed I also love them."
Virtues of Abdullah ibn Umar (RA)
Narrated from Ummul Momineen Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said to her: "Abdullah is a righteous man."
Virtues of Ammar and Hudhayfah (RA)
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that a boy came and sat beside him on one side, saying: "O Allah, grant me a righteous companion." So Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Where have you come from?" He replied: "From Kufa." Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Is there not in your city, or among your people, the person who was aware of such secrets of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that no one else knew except him? That is, Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him)." He said: "Yes, there is." Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Is there not in your city, or among your people, the person whom Allah has granted protection from the evil of Satan through the tongue of His Prophet? That is, Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him)." He said: "He is also there." Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Is there not in your city, or among your people, the person who used to keep the miswak of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), or the pillow (or was aware of secrets, that is, Abdullah bin Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with them both)?" He said: "Yes, there is." Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "How did Abdullah recite this Surah: (By the night as it envelops. And by the day as it appears in brightness)?" How further? I said: "(And by the male and the female)." He said: "The people here (in Sham) are also strange; they kept insisting with me, trying to make me err, by telling me differently from what I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)."
Virtues of Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah (RA)
Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Every nation had a trustworthy person (who excelled in trustworthiness and honesty), and the trustworthy one of this nation is Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah."
Virtues of Hasan and Husayn (RA)
Narrated Al-Bara' (may Allah be pleased with him): I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while Al-Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was on his shoulder, and he (peace be upon him) was saying: "O Allah! I love him, so You also love him."
'Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that' there was no one who resembled the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) more than Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).
Narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man from among the people of Iraq asked him: "If a person in the state of Ihram kills a fly?" So Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "The people of Iraq ask about killing a fly, even though they killed the grandson of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), about whom the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'These two are my flowers in this world.'"
