مختصر صحيح مسلم
Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim
Virtues of Banu Tamim.
Abu Zar’ah says that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I always love the (tribe of) Banu Tamim for three reasons which I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I heard him say that they will be the most severe against the Dajjal among my Ummah. And when their charity came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: These are the charities of our people. And a woman from this tribe was a captive with Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Set her free, for she is from the descendants of Sayyiduna Isma’il (peace be upon him).
Brotherhood among the Prophet's Companions.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) established brotherhood between Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah al-Jarrah and Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with them both).
‘Asim Ahwal says that it was said to Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him):“Have you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that there is no alliance (hilf) in Islam?”So Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made an alliance between the Quraysh and the Ansar in his house.”
Jubair bin Mut’im (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no alliance in Islam (i.e., such an alliance in which there is partnership even in inheritance, etc.), and any oath that was taken in the time of ignorance (for a good cause) has become even stronger with Islam.
The Prophet's saying: I am a protection for my Companions, and my Companions are a protection for my Ummah.
‘Sayyiduna Abu Burdah narrates from his father (may Allah be pleased with him),’ he said: We offered the Maghrib prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then we said that if we remain seated until we also offer the ‘Isha prayer with you, it would be better. So we remained seated, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Have you been sitting here all this time? We replied: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! We offered the Maghrib prayer with you, then we said that if we remain seated until we also offer the ‘Isha prayer with you, it would be better. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You have done well, or you have done right. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head towards the sky, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would often raise his head towards the sky, then he said: The stars are a protection for the sky; when the stars disappear, then that which has been promised for the sky will come to it (i.e., the Day of Judgment will come and the sky will be rent asunder and destroyed). And I am a protection for my companions; when I depart, then that which has been promised for my companions will come to them (i.e., tribulations, discord, and fighting). And my companions are a protection for my Ummah; when my companions depart, then that which has been promised for my Ummah will come to them (i.e., differences, disunity, etc.).
About one who saw the Prophet, or saw his Companions, or saw those who saw his Companions.
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A time will come upon the people when groups of men will go out for jihad, and they will be asked: 'Is there anyone among you who has seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?' They will reply: 'Yes!' So they will be granted victory. Then groups of people will go out for jihad, and they will be asked: 'Is there anyone among you who has seen a companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?' (i.e., is there anyone among the Tabi'in?) The people will say: 'Yes!' Then they will be granted victory. Then armies of men will go out for jihad, and they will be asked: 'Is there anyone among you who has seen someone who saw a companion?' (i.e., among the Tabi' Tabi'in?) The people will say: 'Yes.' Then groups of people will go out for jihad, and they will be asked: 'Is there anyone among you who has seen the followers of the followers?'"
The best generation is that of the Companions, then those after them, then those after them.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The best of you are those of my generation, then those who come after them, then those who come after them, then those who come after them. Sayyiduna Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I do not know whether the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned two generations after his own or three. Then after them there will come people who will bear witness without being asked, will be treacherous and not trustworthy, will make vows but not fulfill them, and obesity will become widespread among them.
People are like different mines.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Just as some mines are of gold and some of iron, likewise people are also different; some have noble lineage and origin, some are good and some are bad.) You will find people like mines. So those who were better in the time of ignorance are better in Islam as well, when they gain understanding in religion. And you will find the best among you is the one who used to hate Islam the most before becoming Muslim (meaning, the one who was strong in disbelief, after accepting Islam, will be equally strong in Islam, like Sayyiduna Umar and Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid, may Allah be pleased with them, etc., or it means that the one who dislikes leadership, his leadership will be the best). And you will find the worst among you is the one who is two-faced, who comes to some people with one face and goes to others with another face.
The Prophet's saying: No soul living on earth today will remain after a hundred years.
`Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the Isha prayer one night during the last part of his life. When he finished the prayer with salam, he stood up and said: "Did you see this night of yours? At the end of a hundred years from now, none of those who are on the earth will remain." Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said that people make a mistake regarding the hadiths mentioning "a hundred years." Rather, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that none of those present today will remain, meaning this century will be completed.
Prohibition of insulting the Companions and their superiority over later generations.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not speak ill of my companions, do not speak ill of my companions. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if any one of you were to spend gold equal to (the mountain of) Uhud (in the way of Allah), it would not equal a mudd (a handful) or even half a mudd of what they gave.
