Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim
Virtues of Abu Hurairah al-Dawsi.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I used to invite my mother to Islam and she was a polytheist. One day I asked her to accept Islam, but she said something about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that I disliked. I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) weeping and said, "I used to invite my mother to Islam but she would not accept. Today she said something about you that I disliked, so please supplicate to Allah that He may guide the mother of Abu Hurairah." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "O Allah! Guide the mother of Abu Hurairah." I left, happy with the supplication of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When I reached home and arrived at the door, it was closed. My mother heard the sound of my footsteps and said, "Wait a moment." I heard the sound of water falling; in short, my mother performed ghusl, put on her shirt, quickly covered herself, then opened the door and said, "O Abu Hurairah! I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is the servant and Messenger of Allah." Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) weeping with joy and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Rejoice, Allah has accepted your supplication and guided the mother of Abu Hurairah." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) praised Allah, mentioned His attributes, and spoke good words. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Pray to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, that He may place love for me and my mother in the hearts of the Muslims, and their love in our hearts." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "O Allah! Place the love of Your servants, that is, Abu Hurairah and his mother, in the hearts of the believing servants, and place the love of the believers in their hearts." After that, no believer was born who heard me or saw me except that he loved me.

‘Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) said:“Are you not amazed at Abu Hurairah? He came and sat in one corner of my room and began narrating hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I was listening, but I was performing voluntary prayers, and he left before I finished. If I had found him, I would have refuted him, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not speak in such haste as you do.”

Ibn Shihab said to Ibn al-Musayyib:“Indeed, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: ‘People say that Abu Hurairah narrates many hadith, and Allah is the examiner, and they also say: Why do the Muhajirun and Ansar not narrate hadith as Abu Hurairah does? Soon I will explain the reason to you. My Ansari brothers were busy working in their fields, and the Muhajirun were occupied with business in the markets, but I would stay with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to fill my stomach. Thus, I would be present while they were absent, and I would remember while they would forget. One day, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Who among you will spread out his garment and listen to my hadith, then gather it to his chest, so that he will not forget anything he hears?”I spread out my cloak until he finished speaking, then I gathered it to my chest. From that day, I have not forgotten anything that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said. And if it were not for these two verses that were revealed in the Noble Qur’an, I would not narrate any hadith to anyone: ‘Indeed, those who conceal what We have sent down of clear proofs and guidance…’ to the end.”__QUR_N__ __XREF_N__ __REF_N__

Virtues of Abu Dujanah Simak ibn Kharsha.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) held a sword on the day of Uhud and said, "Who will take this from me?" People stretched out their hands and each one was saying, "I will take it, I will take it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Who will fulfill its right?" Upon hearing this, people withdrew (because on the day of Uhud the disbelievers had the upper hand). Sayyiduna Simak bin Kharsha Abu Dujana (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I will fulfill its right." Then he took it and split the heads of the polytheists with that sword.

Virtues of Abu Sufyan Sakhr ibn Harb.
Abu Zumail says that Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated to me and said: The Muslims did not pay attention to Abu Sufyan, nor did they sit with him (because Abu Sufyan had fought against the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, several times and was a fierce enemy of the Muslims). Once, he spoke to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and said: O Prophet of Allah, grant me three things. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: Very well. Abu Sufyan said: I have a woman who is the most beautiful and attractive among all the Arabs, Umm Habibah, my daughter; I will marry her to you. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: Very well. The second (request) is that make my son Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) your scribe. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: Very well. The third is, command me to fight against the disbelievers (just as before Islam I used to fight against the Muslims). The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: Very well. Abu Zumail said: If he had not asked for these things from the Prophet, peace be upon him, the Prophet would not have given them, because (it was the habit of the Prophet, peace be upon him) that whenever anyone asked him for something, he would agree.

Virtues of Julaybib.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a military expedition, and Allah Almighty granted him (victory along with) spoils of war. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to his people, "Is there anyone absent among you?" The people replied, "Yes, so-and-so, so-and-so, and so-and-so are absent." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Is there anyone else absent?" The people said, "So-and-so and so-and-so are absent." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Is there anyone else absent?" The people replied, "No one." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "I do not see Julaibib (may Allah be pleased with him)." The people searched for him among the dead and found his body near seven corpses whom Sayyiduna Julaibib had killed. He killed seven and was then martyred. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came to him, stood there, and then said, "He killed seven men, and then he was killed. He is of me and I am of him." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) lifted him with his own two hands, and only the Prophet's hands served as his bier. After that, a grave was dug and he was placed in it. And the narrator did not mention the washing (ghusl).

Virtues of Hassan ibn Thabit.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by Sayyiduna Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was reciting poetry in the mosque. (It is understood that reciting poetry in the mosque which praises Islam, criticizes disbelievers, or encourages jihad is permissible.) Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) looked at him (angrily). Sayyiduna Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I used to recite poetry in the mosque even when a person better than you (i.e., the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him) was present." Then he looked towards Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "I ask you by Allah, did you hear from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He used to say: 'O Hassan! Reply on my behalf. O Allah, help him with the Holy Spirit (Jibreel, peace be upon him).'" Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Yes, I heard it. O Allah, You know."

Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he used to say to Sayyiduna Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him): Satirize (the disbelievers), and Jibreel is with you. (To mention someone’s faults is called satire.)

Masruq says: I went to Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her), and with her was Sayyiduna Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), who was reciting a verse from his ghazal, which was a few couplets he had composed. The verse was: "Pure and intelligent, there is no accusation against them. They rise in the morning hungry for the flesh of the heedless." (Meaning, they do not backbite anyone, because backbiting is as if eating their flesh.) Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) said to Sayyiduna Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him): "But you are not like that" (meaning, you do backbite people). Masruq said: I asked Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her): "Why do you allow Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him) to come to you, even though Allah Almighty has said about him: 'The person among them who took upon himself the greater part of it (i.e., the slander against Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her)), for him is a great punishment.'" (Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) was among those who participated in the slander against Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prescribed the legal punishment for him.) Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "What greater punishment could there be than that he became blind?" And she said: "He used to defend or satirize on behalf of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) against the disbelievers." (That is why I allow him to come to me.)

Narrated from Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Satirize the Quraysh, for satire is more distressing to them than a shower of arrows. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a person to Sayyiduna Ibn Rawaha (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Satirize the Quraysh. He composed satire, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not like it. Then he sent to Sayyiduna Ka’b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). Then he sent to Sayyiduna Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him). When Sayyiduna Hassan came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: The time has come upon you that you have called this lion who strikes with his tail (meaning, he kills people with his tongue, as if he is a lion in the field of eloquence and poetry). Then he stuck out his tongue and began to move it and said: By Him Who sent you as a true Prophet, I will tear the disbelievers apart with my tongue as leather is torn apart. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Hassan! Do not be hasty! For Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) knows the genealogy of the Quraysh very well, and my lineage is also from the Quraysh, so he will separate my lineage for you. Then Hassan went to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), then returned and said: O Messenger of Allah! Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) has explained your lineage to me. By Him Who sent you as a true Prophet, I will extract you from among the Quraysh as a hair is taken out from flour. Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say to Hassan: The Holy Spirit will always help you as long as you answer on behalf of Allah and His Messenger. And Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: When Hassan satirized the Quraysh, he healed the hearts of the believers and destroyed the honor of the disbelievers. Hassan said:

You reviled Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), so I replied to you, and Allah will recompense for that.
You reviled Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), who is righteous and pious, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and loyalty is his trait.
My forefathers and my honor are sacrificed to protect the honor of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
If you do not see dust rising from both sides of Kada’ (the pass at the gate of Mecca), then I would lose my life.
Such she-camels that will pull hard on the reins and climb up with their strength and power, on their shoulders are those spears which are thin or thirsty for blood, and our horses will come running, their mouths wiped by women with their veils.
If you do not speak to us, we will perform Umrah, and victory will be achieved, and the veil will be lifted.
Otherwise, be patient for the blow of that day when Allah will honor whom He wills.
And Allah has said: I have prepared an army, which is the army of the Ansar, whose sport is to confront the disbelievers.
And Allah has said: I have sent a servant who speaks the truth, there is no doubt in his word.
Every day we are in one preparation or another, either abuse from the disbelievers, or fighting, or satire against the disbelievers.
Whoever among you reviles the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), or praises him, or helps him, all are equal.
Jibreel is among us, the Messenger of Allah, and the Holy Spirit, for whom there is no equal.

Virtues of Jarir ibn Abdullah al-Bajali.
`Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) says that since I became Muslim, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never prevented me from entering, and whenever he saw me, he always had a smile on his face (that is, he would meet with cheerfulness and an open forehead).
