It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the illness of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became severe, he said: "O Ali! Bring me a piece of paper so that I may write something by which my Ummah will be saved from going astray." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I feared that before I could bring the paper, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) might pass away, so I said: I will remember it myself. At that time, the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) head was between my arms. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advised regarding prayer, zakat, and treating slaves well, and while saying this, he passed away. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed to say «لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُوْلُهُ» and said: "Whoever bears witness to both of these, the fire of Hell is forbidden for him."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that he used to say to the people:“We know you better than animal healers know animals. We know those among you who are good and those among you who are bad. Your good people are those from whom good is expected and from whose evil people are safe. And the bad ones are those from whom no good is expected and from whose evil there is no safety, and even their freed slave is not truly free.”

It is narrated from Sayyida Umrah Ansariyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) set one of her slave girls free as a mudabbirah. Later, Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) fell ill, so her nephews consulted a non-Arab physician about her condition. When Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was informed, she asked the slave girl, "Have you done magic on me?" She replied, "Yes!" Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked, "Why did you do this? Now you will never be freed from slavery." From among them, he (peace be upon him) gave one to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and advised: "Do not beat him, for I have been forbidden from beating praying (Muslim) slaves, and since he has come to us, I have seen him performing prayer." So Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) took my hand and brought me to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Anas is a very intelligent and clever boy, so let him serve you. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I served the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in Madinah from his arrival until his passing, both at home and on journeys.
