It is narrated from another chain from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever strikes someone unjustly, retribution will be taken from him on the Day of Resurrection."

It is narrated from ‘Ubadah bin Walid bin ‘Ubadah that I and my respected father went to a tribe of the Ansar to seek knowledge, so that we could learn before they passed away. The first person we met was the companion of the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ), Sayyiduna Abu Yusr (may Allah be pleased with him), and his slave was with him. Sayyiduna Abu Yusr (may Allah be pleased with him) was wearing a sheet and a Ma‘afiri garment, and his slave was also dressed in a sheet and a Ma‘afiri garment. I said: Uncle! If you took the striped sheet from the slave and gave him the Ma‘afiri garment, or took the Ma‘afiri garment from him and gave him your sheet, then both of you would have matching outfits. He placed his hand on my head and said: O Allah! Bless him. O my nephew! I saw the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) with these two eyes of mine, heard him with these two ears, and my heart has retained it, and he pointed towards his heart. He ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) used to say:“Feed them with what you eat yourself, and clothe them with what you wear yourself.”And for me to give him from the wealth of this world is easier for me than for him to take from my good deeds on the Day of Resurrection.

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), while advising good treatment of slaves, used to say: "Feed them with what you eat yourself, and clothe them with what you wear yourself, and do not torment the creation of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic."

Suwaid bin Mu'arrur says that I saw Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) wearing a pair of clothes, and his slave was also wearing a similar pair. We asked him about this, so he said: I once spoke harshly to a man (my slave), and he complained about me to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Did you reproach him about his mother?" I said: Yes! Then he said: "Your servants are your brothers, whom Allah has placed under your authority. So, whoever has his brother under his authority, he should feed him from what he himself eats, and clothe him with what he himself wears. And do not burden them with work beyond their capacity. If you assign them a heavy task, then help them with it."

It is narrated from Ma’rur that we passed by Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) and saw that he was wearing an ordinary garment while his slave was wearing a (similar) suit. We said: If you took this suit from the slave and gave him some other clothes, it would make a matching set for you. He said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“These are your brothers whom Allah has placed under your authority, so whoever has his brother under him should feed him what he himself eats, and clothe him with what he himself wears.
