It is narrated from Abu Majliz (may Allah have mercy on him) that when Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came out, Abdullah bin Amir and Abdullah bin Zubair were sitting. Ibn Amir stood up when he saw him, but Ibn Zubair remained seated, and he was the more dignified of the two. Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) (seeing Ibn Amir standing) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is pleased that people should stand up for him, let him prepare his abode in the Fire."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty created Adam (peace be upon him) with a height of sixty cubits. Then He commanded him: Go and greet that group of angels who are sitting. Listen carefully to the reply they give you, for that will be your greeting and the greeting of your descendants. So he said: «السلام علیکم» ! The angels replied: «السلام علیک ورحمۃ اللہ» ! They added «ورحمۃ اللہ» . Every person who enters Paradise will be of this stature. Since then, the stature of mankind has been decreasing continuously."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who reported that a man named Agharr (who belonged to the Muzaynah tribe and had the honor of being a companion of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him) was owed several wasqs of dates by a person from Banu Amr bin Awf, for which he had gone to demand payment several times. He says: I went to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (and complained), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) with me. He says: Whoever we met (on the way) would greet us with salam. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Have you not noticed that people greet you first, so they receive the reward for initiating the greeting? If you initiate the salam, you will receive the reward. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to narrate this from himself.
