Chapter: Greeting women
Hadith Number: 1047
It is narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by the mosque where a group of women was sitting. The Prophet (peace be upon him) greeted them with a gesture of his hand and said: "Beware of being ungrateful to those who do good to you, do not be ungrateful to those who do good to you." One of them said: O Messenger of Allah! We seek Allah's refuge from being ungrateful for Allah's blessings. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, you do so. When the period of being unmarried is prolonged for any of you (and then she gets married), and she becomes angry with her husband, she says: By Allah! I have never seen any good from him, not even for a moment. This is being ungrateful for Allah's blessings, and this is being ungrateful to those who do good to you."

Narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Yazid Ansariyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me while I was sitting with my peers. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) greeted us with salam and said: "Beware of being ungrateful to those who show you favor and honor." Among them, I was the boldest in asking questions. I said: O Messenger of Allah! What is ingratitude to the benefactors? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is when one of you remains unmarried for a long time between her parents, then Allah gives her a husband and grants her children from him, then she becomes angry and, being ungrateful, says: I have never seen any good in you."

Chapter: Disliking exclusive greeting
Hadith Number: 1049
It is narrated from Tariq bin Shihab (may Allah have mercy on him) that we were sitting with Sayyiduna Abdullah (bin Mas'ud) (may Allah be pleased with them) when an informant came and said that the prayer has been established. Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them) stood up and we also stood up with him. When we entered the mosque, we saw that the people in the front part of the mosque were in bowing (ruku‘). Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them) said the takbir and went into ruku‘, and we also moved forward and did the same. Then (after finishing the prayer) a person quickly passed by and said: «السلام علیکم» O Abu Abdur Rahman. He replied: Allah has spoken the truth and His Messenger has conveyed (it) correctly. Then, after finishing the prayer, we returned and Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them) went to his house. We sat in our place waiting for him until he came out. We said to each other: Who will ask him (why, instead of replying to the greeting, he said that Allah has spoken the truth and His Messenger has conveyed it)? Tariq said: I will ask, so he asked, and Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Near the Day of Judgment, greetings (salam) will be given only to specific people, trade will become widespread to the extent that a wife will assist her husband in business matters, ties of kinship will be severed, knowledge will spread, false testimony will become common, and true testimony will be concealed."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "What is the best form of Islam?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "That you feed (others), and greet with salam both those you know and those you do not know."
