Warrad, the scribe of Sayyiduna Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates that Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter to Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him): "Send me something in writing that you have heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." So Sayyiduna Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to him. (And in one narration, Warrad said: He dictated to me and I wrote it with my own hand.) Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (and in another narration: I heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him) «قيل و قال» (idle talk), wasting wealth, asking too many questions, withholding (people’s rights), and making unlawful demands (i.e., asking for what one is not entitled to, making illegitimate demands), disobedience to mothers, and burying daughters alive.

Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent a message to me and ordered me to come to him fully dressed and armed. So I complied, and when I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he was performing ablution. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) raised his gaze towards me and then lowered it. After that, he said: "O Amr! I intend to appoint you as the commander of an army, so Allah will grant you spoils of war, and I desire for you what is lawful from your wealth." I said: O Messenger of Allah! I did not accept Islam for the sake of wealth. I became Muslim seeking Islam so that I could be with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." He said: "O Amr! Lawful provision is very good for a righteous man."

Then when wealth was mentioned, the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: "For a person who is pious, having wealth is not a sin, and for a person who is pious, good health is better than wealth, and being cheerful is also among the blessings of Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was coming back from that direction ahead of them—he had reached the source of the sound before anyone else. He (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying:“Do not be afraid, do not be afraid.”At that time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was riding the horse of Abu Talhah without a saddle, on its bare back.
