Chapter: Supplications of the Prophet ﷺ
Hadith Number: 520
520/966 عن ابي هريرة، قال:"كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يتعوذ من جهد البلاء(6)، ودرك الشقاء(7)، وسوء القضاء، وشماتة الاعداء". قال سفيان: في الحديث ثلاث، زدت انا واحدة، لا ادري ايتهن(8).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to seek refuge from the severity of trials, from falling into wretchedness, from the evil of fate’s decrees, and from the gloating of enemies. Sufyan said: Three things are mentioned in the hadith; I have added the fourth, but I do not know which one it is.

Hadith Number: 521
521/671 عن انس بن مالك قال: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول:"اللهم إني اعوذ بك من العجز، والكسل، والجبن، والهرم، واعوذ بك من فتنة المحيا والممات، واعوذ بك من عذاب القبر".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to say: «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من العجز، والكسل، والجبن، والهرم، وأعوذ بك من فتنة المحيا والممات، وأعوذ بك من عذاب القبر» "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from helplessness, laziness, cowardice, extreme old age, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of life and death, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave."

Hadith Number: 522
522/672 عن انس قال: سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول:" اللهم إني اعوذ بك من الهم والحزن، والعجز والكسل، والجبن والبخل وضلع الدين(1)، وغلبة الرجال".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الهم والحزن، والعجز والكسل، والجبن والبخل وضلع الدين، وغلبة الرجال» "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from anxiety, sorrow, incapacity, laziness, cowardice, miserliness, the burden of debt, and the overpowering of men."

Hadith Number: 523
523/673 عن ابي هريرة قال: كان من دعاء النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم:"اللهم اغفر لي ما قدمت وما اخرت، وما اسررت وما اعلنت، وما انت اعلم به مني، إنك انت المقدم والمؤخر، لا إله إلا انت".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: Among the supplications of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is: «اللهم اغفر لي ما قدمت وما أخرت، وما أسررت وما أعلنت، وما أنت أعلم به مني، إنك أنت المقدم والمؤخر، لا إله إلا أنت» "O Allah! Forgive all my sins, those I committed earlier and later, those I committed secretly and openly, and those You know better than I do. You are the One Who brings forward and the One Who delays. There is no deity except You."

Hadith Number: 524
524/674 عن عبد الله [هو ابن مسعود]، قال: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يدعو:"اللهم إني اسالك الهدى، والعفاف والغنى" وقال اصحابنا عن عمرو(2):"والتقى".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah (who is Ibn Mas'ud) (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to supplicate: «اللهم إني أسألك الهدى، والعفاف والغنى» "O Allah! I ask You for guidance, chastity, and sufficiency." And our companions have narrated from Amr: and piety.

Hadith Number: 525
525/675 عن ثمامة بن حزن قال: سمعت شيخا ينادي باعلى صوته:"اللهم إني اعوذ بك من الشر لا يخلطه شيء". قلت: من هذا الشيخ؟ قيل: ابو الدرداء.
It is narrated from Thumamah bin Hazn that he said: I heard a sheikh loudly saying: «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الشر لا يخلطه شيء» "O Allah! I seek refuge with You from such evil in which there is nothing mixed (pure evil)." I asked, who is this sheikh? It was said: Abu Darda.

Hadith Number: 526
526/677 عن انس ؛ ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يكثر ان يدعو بهذا الدعاء:"اللهم(3) آتنا في الدنيا حسنة، وفي الآخرة حسنة، وقنا عذاب النار". قال: شعبة: فذكرته لقتادة فقال: كان انس يدعوا به، ولم يرفعه(4).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would often make this supplication: «اللهم آتنا فى الدنيا حسنة، وفي الآخرة حسنة، وقنا عذاب النار» "O Allah! Grant us goodness in this world, goodness in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of Hell." Shu’bah says that I presented this narration before ‘Ubadah, and he said that Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) used to make this supplication and did not narrate it as a marfu’ (directly attributed to the Prophet).

Hadith Number: 527
527/678 عن ابي هريرة،، كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول:"اللهم إني اعوذ بك من الفقر والذلة، واعوذ بك ان اظلم او اظلم".
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to say: «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الفقر والذلة، وأعوذ بك أن أظلم أو أُظلم» "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from poverty, from humiliation, and I seek refuge in You from doing wrong or being wronged."

Hadith Number: 528
528/683 عن انس قال: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يكثر ان يقول:"اللهم! يا مقلب القلوب، ثبت قلوبنا على دينك".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to frequently make this supplication: «اللهم! يا مقلب القلوب، ثبت قلوبنا على دينك» "O Allah! O Turner of the hearts, keep our hearts firm upon Your religion."

Hadith Number: 529
529/684 عن عبد الله بن ابي اوفى، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: انه كان يدعو:"اللهم لك الحمد ملء السماوات وملء الارض، وملء ما شئت من شيء بعد، اللهم طهرني بالبرد والثلج والماء البارد، اللهم طهرني من الذنوب ونقني كما ينقى الثوب الابيض من الدنس".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa, who narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate: «اللهم لك الحمد ملء السماوات وملء الأرض، وملء ما شئت من شيء بعد، اللهم طهرني بالبرد والثلج والماء البارد، اللهم طهرني من الذنوب ونقني كما يُنقى الثوب الأبيض من الدنس» "O Allah! All praise is for You, as much as fills the earth, as much as fills the heavens, and as much as You will after that. O Allah! Purify me with hail, snow, and cold water. O Allah! Cleanse me from sins and purify me as a white garment is cleansed from dirt."
