Muhammad bin Ka'b Qurazi narrates: The person who heard from Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to me: He said, We were sitting in the mosque with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when suddenly Mus'ab bin Umair (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us. He was wearing only one sheet, which had leather patches on it. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him, he began to weep upon seeing the difference between his previous state of blessings and his current state. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What will your condition be when one of you will wear one set of clothes in the morning and another in the evening, a dish will be placed on your table and another will be removed, and you will cover your houses (with curtains and decorations) just as the Ka'bah is covered (with cloths)?" The Companions said, O Messenger of Allah! At that time we will be better than we are today; we will be free for worship and will be relieved from work (servants will do the work). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, today you are better than you will be at that time." Its chain is weak. Narrated by al-Tirmidhi.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A time will come upon the people when the one who remains steadfast on his religion will be like one who holds a burning ember in his hand." (Tirmidhi), and he said: The chain of this hadith is gharib. Its chain is weak. Narrated by al-Tirmidhi.

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When your leaders are the best among you, your wealthy are generous, and your affairs are decided by mutual consultation, then the surface of the earth is better for you than its interior (i.e., life is better than death). And when your rulers are evil, your wealthy are miserly, and your affairs are entrusted to women, then the interior of the earth is better for you than its surface (i.e., death is better than life)." (Tirmidhi), and he said: This hadith is gharib. Its chain is weak. Narrated by al-Tirmidhi.

Thauban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The time is near when (misguided) nations will call each other against you just as eaters call each other to a dish." Someone asked: "Will it be because we will be few in number on that day?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "No, rather on that day you will be many, but you will be like the foam of a flood. Allah will remove fear of you from the hearts of your enemies and will cast 'wahn' into your hearts." Someone asked: "O Messenger of Allah! What is 'wahn'?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Love of the world and dislike of death." Hasan, narrated by Abu Dawood and Al-Bayhaqi in Dala'il al-Nubuwwah.

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When dishonesty becomes widespread among a people, Allah casts fear into their hearts; when adultery spreads among a people, deaths increase among them; when a people cheat in weights and measures, their sustenance is withheld; when a people begin to make unjust decisions, widespread killing occurs among them; and when a people break their covenants, enemies are set over them. Its chain is weak. Narrated by Malik.

It is narrated from ‘Iyad bin Himar al-Mujashi‘i (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said in his sermon:“Listen! My Lord has commanded me to teach you what He has taught me today, things which you did not know. All wealth that I have bestowed upon any servant is lawful. I have created all My servants as Hunafa (those who keep away from falsehood and are ready to accept the truth). Indeed, the devils come to them and turn them away from their religion, and they make unlawful for them what I had made lawful for them, and they command them to associate with Me that for which I have sent down no authority. Indeed, Allah looked at the people of the earth and detested them, both Arabs and non-Arabs, except for some remnants from the People of the Book. And He said: I have only sent you so that I may test you and test (your people) through you. I have sent down upon you a Book which water cannot wash away (it is unalterable); you will recite it while asleep and awake. Indeed, Allah has commanded me to destroy Quraysh, so I said: My Lord! They will crush my head and make it like bread. He said: Expel them as they expelled you, and fight them, We will support you. Spend, and you will be provided for. Send forth an army, and We will send five armies (of angels) like it. And you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) will fight the disobedient with your obedient followers.”Narrated by Muslim.

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When this verse was revealed: "And warn your closest relatives," the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) climbed Mount Safa and began to call out: "Banu Fihr! Banu Adi!" (who are tribes of Quraysh) until they gathered together. Then he said: "Tell me, if I were to inform you that there is an army in the valley intending to attack you, would you believe me?" They said: "Yes, we have always found you truthful." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I am a warner to you before a severe punishment." Abu Lahab said: "May you perish for the rest of the day! Is this why you gathered us?" Then the Surah (Tabbat Yada Abi Lahabin Wa Tabb) "May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he" was revealed. In another narration, he called out: "Banu Abd Manaf! My example and yours is like that of a man who saw the enemy and went to save his family, fearing that the enemy would reach them before him, so he began to shout loudly: 'Ya Sabahah!'" Agreed upon.

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When this verse was revealed: "And warn your nearest relatives," the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called the Quraysh, and they all gathered. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) addressed everyone, both the general and the specific, and said: O Banu Ka'b bin Lu'ayy! Save yourselves from the Fire of Hell. O Banu Murrah bin Ka'b! Save yourselves from the Fire. O Banu Abd Shams! Save yourselves from the Fire. O Banu Abd al-Muttalib! Save yourselves from the Fire. Fatimah! Save yourself from the Fire. I have no power to do anything for you before Allah, except that I will uphold the ties of kinship with kindness.

And in the narration of Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: O assembly of Quraysh! Save your souls (from the Fire by having faith); I can do nothing for you before Allah. O Banu Abd Manaf! I can do nothing for you before Allah. Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib! I can do nothing for you before Allah. Safiyyah, the aunt of the Messenger of Allah! I can do nothing for you before Allah. Fatimah bint Muhammad! Take whatever you wish from my wealth, I can do nothing for you before Allah.

Narrated by Muslim and al-Bukhari.

Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This Ummah of mine is an Ummah upon whom mercy has been shown; it will not have (severe) punishment in the Hereafter. Its punishment in this world will be in the form of trials, earthquakes, and killings." Its chain is Hasan. Narrated by Abu Dawood.

Abu Ubaidah and Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with them) narrate from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "The beginning of this religion was with prophethood and mercy, then there will be caliphate and mercy, then there will be oppressive kings, then there will be coercion, excess, and corruption in the land. They will consider silk, private parts (adultery), and wine to be lawful. They will be provided sustenance in this state and will continue to be helped until they meet Allah." Its chain is weak; it is narrated by Al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman.
