Hadith Number: 3493
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that we traveled between Makkah and Madinah with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He did not fear anyone except Allah, yet we performed prayers as two rak‘ahs until we returned.

Musa bin Salamah says that I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), "If you do not find the congregational prayer in the mosque and you are a traveler, how many rak'ahs will you pray?" He replied: "Two rak'ahs, because this is the Sunnah of Abu al-Qasim (peace be upon him)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque riding on his camel, and Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) was seated behind him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for water to drink, and we offered him nabidh. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank it and gave the remainder to Sayyiduna Usama (may Allah be pleased with him), and said: "You have done well and acted excellently; continue to do so." That is why we do not wish to change it now.

It is narrated, most likely as marfu’, from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his head from ruku’, after saying «سَمِعَ اللّٰهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ» , he would say: «اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ مِلْءَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمِلْءَ مَا شِئْتَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ بَعْدُ» “O Allah!
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), in explanation of the following verse: «﴿وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الرُّؤْيَا الَّتِي أَرَيْنَاكَ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِلنَّاسِ﴾ [الإسراء: 60] » "And We did not make the vision which We showed you except as a trial for the people," says that what is meant by this is that which was shown to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with his eyes while awake during the Night of Ascension (Mi'raj).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "If the son of Adam had a valley full of wealth and riches, he would wish to have another like it, and nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust. However, whoever repents, Allah turns to him in mercy." Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I do not know whether this is a part of the Qur'an or not.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once I came to my maternal aunt, Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), and spent the night at her place. I found out that, according to the division of nights, it was the turn of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to spend the night with her that night . . . . . Then the narrator mentioned the complete hadith and at the end said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) felt that the time for Fajr was near, he paused a little and, after it became light, he prayed nine rak‘ahs and intended witr in them, and he would say salam after every two rak‘ahs. When it became bright, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed two rak‘ahs and then lay down and slept until I heard the sound of his snoring. After a little while, Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came and informed about the prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and led the prayer in the same manner.
