It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us and forbade us from an act which was beneficial for us, but we thought that the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is better. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever has any land, he should cultivate it himself, or leave it, or give it as a gift to someone." The narrator says that I mentioned this to Tawus, so he narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "For any one of you to present his land to his brother as a gift is better than taking a fixed rent from him for it."
