It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached Makkah with his noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) on the occasion of ‘Umrat al-Qada, they had become weak due to the fever of Madinah. The polytheists began to mock, saying that a people are coming to you whom the fever of Yathrib has made feeble. Allah informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of their words. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) to perform ramal. The polytheists were sitting at the corner of the Black Stone watching the Muslims. When the Muslims began to perform ramal and walk between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone, the polytheists began to say among themselves,“These are the same people about whom you thought that the fever of Yathrib had made them weak; they seem even stronger than so-and-so.”Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that it was to further strengthen this regret in the hearts of the polytheists that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered ramal in the entire circuit.

Ammar, who was a freed slave of Banu Hashim, says: I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), "What was the blessed age of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the time of his passing?" He replied, "I did not think that such a thing could be hidden from someone like you." I said, "I have asked various people about this, but all their answers were different from each other, so I want to know your opinion." He asked, "Really?" I said, "Yes!" He said, "Then remember! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was commissioned at the age of forty, he stayed in Makkah Mukarramah for fifteen years, where there was a mixture of peace and fear, and ten years after migration in Madinah Munawwarah."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached Makkah on the morning of the fourth of Dhul-Hijjah along with his companions (may Allah be pleased with them), having entered into the state of Ihram for Hajj. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) to convert it into Umrah, except for the one who had a sacrificial animal with him. Thus, after performing Umrah, shirts were worn, incense burners began to emit fragrance, and marriages with women began to take place.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us and said, "O people! Hajj has been made obligatory upon you." Upon hearing this, Aqra' bin Habis stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Is Hajj obligatory every year?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If I had said yes, it would have become obligatory upon you every year, but if that had happened, you would not have been able to do it. Hajj is obligatory only once in a lifetime, and whatever is more than that will be voluntary Hajj."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah, he saw the Jews observing a fast on the tenth of Muharram. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked them, "What is the special reason for which you fast on this day?" They replied, "This is a very good day; on this day Allah granted deliverance to the Children of Israel from their enemy, so Musa (peace be upon him) fasted on this day." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I have more right to Musa than you." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself fasted on this day and also ordered his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) to fast on this day.
