It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "One of the major sins is that a man abuses his parents." The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah! How can a man abuse his parents?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He abuses another man's father, and that man in return abuses his father; similarly, he abuses another man's mother, and that man in return abuses his mother."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) standing on his mount in the plain of Mina. Meanwhile, a man came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I thought that shaving the head comes before sacrifice, so I had my head shaved before offering the sacrifice." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Go and offer the sacrifice, there is no harm." Another man came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I thought that sacrifice comes before stoning, so I offered the sacrifice before stoning." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Now go and perform the stoning, there is no harm." On that day, for every question of this nature that was asked to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he replied, "Now do it, there is no harm."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Whoever intentionally kills a Muslim, he shall be handed over to the heirs of the slain. If they wish, they may kill him in retribution (qisas), or if they wish, they may accept blood money (diyah), which consists of 30 hiqqah, 30 jadha’ah, and 40 pregnant she-camels. This is the diyah for intentional murder. And whatever they agree upon in reconciliation, they are entitled to it, and this is a severe diyah. The diyah for quasi-intentional killing (shibh ‘amd) is also aggravated like the diyah for intentional killing, but in this case, the killer will not be killed. Its situation is such that Satan creates enmity among people and bloodshed occurs without any command or weapon. Apart from this, in whatever situation the killing occurs, it will be considered quasi-intentional, its diyah will be aggravated, and the killer will not be killed. This is due to the sanctity of the sacred months and because of neighborhood. The diyah for accidental killing (khata’) is one hundred camels, which include 30 bint makhad, 30 bint labun, 30 hiqqah, and 10 male ibn labun camels. And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fix its value for the city dwellers as four hundred dinars or its equivalent in silver, and the determination of the value was according to the price of camels. When the price of camels increased, the amount of diyah was increased accordingly, and when it decreased, it was also reduced. In the blessed era of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), this value reached from four hundred dinars up to eight hundred dinars, and the equivalent value in silver reached up to eight thousand dirhams. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also decided:“Whoever’s diyah is due upon the owners of cows, they should give two hundred cows, and whoever’s diyah is due upon the owners of goats, they should give two thousand goats.”Regarding the nose, he decided:“If it is completely cut off, the full diyah will be due, and if only the soft part is cut, then half the diyah will be due.”The diyah for one eye is set at half, that is, fifty camels or its equivalent in gold, silver, or one hundred cows, or one thousand goats. Likewise, the diyah for one foot is half, and the diyah for one hand is also half. The diyah for a head wound reaching the brain is set at one third, that is, 33 camels or its equivalent in gold, silver, cows, or goats. The diyah for a deep wound is also set at one third. The diyah for a bone being displaced from its place is set at 15 camels, and the diyah for a wound that exposes the flesh by tearing the skin is set at five camels, and the diyah for each tooth is set at five camels.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man struck another’s leg with his horn. He came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said,“O Messenger of Allah! Grant me retribution (qisas).”The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), while deciding about it, said:“Do not act in haste, first let your wound heal.”He insisted on taking retribution immediately. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him retribution. Afterwards, the one who took retribution became lame, and the one from whom retribution was taken became well. So the one who took retribution came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said,“O Messenger of Allah! I have become lame and he has become well?”The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:“Did I not command you that you should not take retribution until your wound heals? But you did not listen to me, so Allah distanced you and worsened your wound.”After this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) decided that whoever is wounded should not demand retribution until his wound heals. Yes, when the wound heals, then he may demand retribution.

He said: And he mentioned, he said: And he mentioned that ‘Amr ibn Shu‘ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, judged concerning a man who stabbed another man in his leg with a horn. The man said,“O Messenger of Allah, let me take retaliation.”The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him,“Do not be hasty until your wound heals.”But the man insisted on taking retaliation, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, allowed him to take retaliation from him. The one who took retaliation became lame, and the one from whom retaliation was taken was healed. The one who took retaliation came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said to him,“O Messenger of Allah, I have become lame, and my companion has healed?!”The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him,“Did I not command you not to take retaliation until your wound healed? But you disobeyed me! May Allah distance you, and your wound is void.”Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded after the man who became lame,“Whoever has a wound, let him not take retaliation until his wound heals. If his wound heals, then let him take retaliation.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said three times in a gathering: "Shall I not tell you who among you will be the most beloved to me in my sight and the closest to me in assembly on the Day of Resurrection?" We said, "Why not, O Messenger of Allah!" The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The one among you who has the best character."

It is narrated from Urwah bin Zubair, may Allah have mercy on him, that once I said to Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, "Tell me about any severe incident that the polytheists inflicted upon the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." He said: One day, the chiefs of Quraysh were gathered in Hatim and I was also present there. They began to discuss the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "We have never shown as much patience towards anyone as we have towards this man. He has called our wise men fools, spoken ill of our forefathers, found faults in our religion, scattered our community, and spoken badly about our gods. We have been very patient with him." Meanwhile, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advanced, touched the Black Stone, and while circumambulating the Ka'bah, passed by them. During this, they began to point at each other, finding fault in some of the words of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I noticed the effects of this on the blessed face of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This happened for three circuits. Finally, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O group of Quraysh, do you hear? By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), I have come to you with sacrifice." The people felt great shame at this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and there was not a single man among them who did not feel as if a bird was sitting on his head. Even the man who was previously the harshest began to speak kindly, saying, "Abul Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him), please go in safety and well-being. By Allah, you are not ignorant." So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went back.

The next day, those people again gathered in Hatim and I was with them. They began to say to each other, "Earlier, you mentioned the trying things you have endured from him, and when he appeared before you with what you disliked, you let him go." While they were talking, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived. They all jumped up together and surrounded the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), saying, "Are you the one who says such and such?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes! I am the one who says that." The narrator says: I saw one of them grab the cloak of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by the neck (and began to strangle him). Seeing this, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, stood up to rescue the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), weeping and saying, "Will you kill a man just because he says, 'My Lord is Allah'?" Upon this, they left. This was the hardest day in which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) suffered such severe harm from the Quraysh.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn, when the delegation of Banu Hawazin came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I was also present there. The people of the delegation said, "O Muhammad! (peace and blessings be upon him) We are people of lineage and family. Please show kindness to us, may Allah show kindness to you, and the calamity that has befallen us is not hidden from you." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Choose one from your women, children, and wealth." They said, "You have given us the choice regarding our honor and wealth; we prefer our children over wealth." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is for me and for Banu Abd al-Muttalib will be for you. When I have finished the Zuhr prayer, then stand up and say: 'We request intercession from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) before the Muslims regarding our women and children, and from the Muslims before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).'" So they did so. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is for me and for Banu Abd al-Muttalib is for you." The Muhajirun said, "What is for us is for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." The Ansar also said the same. Uyainah bin Badr said, "What is for me and for Banu Fazarah is not included." Aqra' bin Habis said, "I and Banu Tamim are also not included in this." Abbas bin Mirdas said, "I and Banu Sulaym are also not included in this." The people of both tribes said, "You are wrong; this is for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people! Return to them their women and children. Whoever wants to keep any item from the spoils of war, then from the first spoils of war that come to us, six shares from it are our responsibility."

Maqsam says that once I went out with Talid bin Kilab Laithi. We reached Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) who at that time was performing Tawaf of the Ka'bah with his shoes hanging in his hands. We asked him, "At the time of the Battle of Hunayn, when a man from Banu Tamim spoke to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), were you present there?" He replied, "Yes, a man from Banu Tamim, who was called Dhu al-Khuwaisira, came and stood before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was distributing the spoils of war among the people. He said, 'O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), today I have seen you distributing the spoils of war.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'Well, how did you find it?' He said, 'I did not see you acting with justice.' Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry and said, 'Woe to you! If justice is not with me, then with whom will it be?' Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) said, 'O Messenger of Allah! Should we not kill him?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'No, leave him. Soon there will be people from his group who will adopt extremism in religion. They will leave the religion just as an arrow passes through its prey. If you look at the arrowhead, you will see nothing on it; if you look at the shaft, you will see nothing on it; and if you look at the feathers, you will see nothing on them. Rather, the arrow will surpass the dung and blood.'"
