It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), who searched for water and then came back and informed that no water was found. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is there any water-skin?" They brought a water-skin to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his blessed hand on it, and a spring gushed forth from beneath the fingers of his hand. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) began to drink from it, and the other companions began to perform ablution.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that we set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for a battle, and at that time our number was more than 210. The time for prayer arrived, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Does anyone have any water?”A man came running with a small bucket in which there was a little water, and the people had no water besides that. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) poured it into a large bowl, then he performed ablution thoroughly from it and moved away, leaving the bowl there. The people rushed to the bowl saying,“Bathe, bathe!”When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) heard them saying this, he said:“Wait.”Then he placed his hand over the water and the bowl and said:“Say Bismillah.”Then he said:“Purify yourselves well.”The narrator said: By the One Who afflicted me with the trial of my eyes, I saw the springs of water gushing forth from between his fingers, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not remove his fingers until all of them had completed their ablution.

Salim bin Abi Al-Ja'd says: I heard Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) say: Thirst overcame us (this is the incident of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah), we began to cry and went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He placed his blessed hand on a vessel, and water began to gush forth from his fingers as if they were springs of water. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Begin in the name of Allah." The narrator stated: Then we drank the water and it was sufficient for all of us (in the narration of Bukhari: we drank and performed ablution). In the narration of Amr bin Murrah, we asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): How many people were you at that time? He said: (1500) fifteen hundred (in Bukhari it is 1400, fourteen hundred). If we had been one hundred thousand, that water would have been sufficient for us.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) complained to him about severe thirst. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had a large bowl brought, poured water into it, and placed his hand over it. I was watching the water gushing forth like a spring from between the fingers of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the people were drinking from it until all of them were satisfied.

When Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) heard about the sinking of the earth, he said: "We used to consider miracles as a source of blessing, but you consider them a source of fear. Once, we were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when the water ran out. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Find whoever has any water left.' So a little water was brought, which he (peace and blessings be upon him) put into a vessel, then placed his blessed hand over it, and water began to gush forth from between his fingers (like a fountain). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Come to the blessed water, and blessing is only from Allah the Exalted.' Then we all drank the water." Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "We used to hear the food glorifying Allah while we ate."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that during his time an earthquake occurred. When he was informed about it, he said: "We, the companions of the Messenger of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), used to look at these signs and miracles as a blessing, while you fear them. We were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when the time for prayer arrived and we had a little water with us. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had that small amount of water brought and placed in a vessel, and he placed his blessed hand over it, and water began to gush forth from between his fingers. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'Come to the water (in another version: come for ablution), and the blessing is from Allah, the Exalted.' The narrator said: So the people turned towards it and performed ablution, and at that time I was concerned with filling my stomach with that water because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had said that this blessing is from Allah. The narrator said: I related this to Salim bin Abi Al-Ja'd, and he said: At that time, the number of the noble companions was fifteen hundred."
