حَدِيثُ بُرَيْدَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of Buraydah al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith Number: 23005
حدثنا عبد الرزاق ، حدثنا معمر ، عن عطاء الخراساني ، حدثني عبد الله بن بريدة ، عن ابيه ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " إني كنت نهيتكم عن زيارة القبور، فزوروها، فإنها تذكر الآخرة، ونهيتكم عن نبيذ الجر، فانتبذوا في كل وعاء، واجتنبوا كل مسكر، ونهيتكم عن اكل لحوم الاضاحي بعد ثلاث، فكلوا وتزودوا وادخروا" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I had forbidden you from three things: from going to the graveyards, but now you may go so that it may remind you of the Hereafter; I had forbidden you from eating the meat of sacrifice after three days, but now eat it and keep it as long as you wish; and I had forbidden you from drinking from specific vessels, but now you may drink from whichever vessel you wish, however, do not drink anything intoxicating.

Hadith Number: 23006
حدثنا زيد بن الحباب من كتابه، حدثني حسين ، حدثني ابن بريدة ، عن ابيه ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " من حلف انه بريء من الإسلام، فإن كان كاذبا، فهو كما قال، وإن كان صادقا، فلن يرجع إلى الإسلام سالما" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever swears an oath that he is free from Islam—if he is lying, then he will be as he said; and if he is truthful, then he will never return to Islam in a sound state.

Hadith Number: 23007
حدثنا زيد بن الحباب ، حدثنا حسين بن واقد ، حدثنا عبد الله بن بريدة ، عن ابيه ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " بيننا وبينهم ترك الصلاة، فمن تركها، فقد كفر" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The distinguishing factor between us and the polytheists is the prayer; therefore, whoever abandons the prayer commits disbelief.

Hadith Number: 23008
حدثنا زيد بن الحباب ، حدثني حسين ، حدثنا عبد الله بن بريدة ، قال: سمعت ابي بريدة ، يقول: إن معاذ بن جبل صلى باصحابه صلاة العشاء، فقرا فيها اقتربت الساعة، فقام رجل من قبل ان يفرغ، فصلى وذهب، فقال له معاذ قولا شديدا، فاتى الرجل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فاعتذر إليه، فقال: إني كنت اعمل في نخل، فخفت على الماء، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " صل ب وضحاها، ونحوها من السور" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Hazrat Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) led the people in the Isha prayer and recited the entire Surah Qamar in it. A man stood up before his prayer was finished, performed his prayer alone, and left. Hazrat Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) spoke harshly about him. That man went to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "I work in the orchards and I was afraid the water would run out." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "(O Mu'adh) recite Surah ash-Shams and similar surahs in prayer."

Hadith Number: 23009
حدثنا زيد بن الحباب ، حدثني حسين بن واقد ، حدثني عبد الله بن بريدة ، عن ابيه ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " دفع الراية إلى علي بن ابي طالب يوم خيبر" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of the Battle of Khaybar, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the flag to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).

Hadith Number: 23010
حدثنا يحيى بن واضح ابو تميلة ، اخبرني حسين بن واقد ، قال: سمعت ابن بريدة ، يقول: سمعت ابي ، يقول: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " من قال: إني بريء من الإسلام، فإن كان كاذبا، فهو كما قال، وإن كان صادقا، فلن يرجع إلى الإسلام" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever swears an oath that he is free from Islam—if he is lying, then he will be as he said; and if he is truthful, then he will never return to Islam in a sound state.

Hadith Number: 23011
حدثنا ابو تميلة يحيى بن واضح ، اخبرنا حسين بن واقد ، حدثني عبد الله بن بريدة ، عن ابيه ، قال: رجع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من بعض مغازيه، فجاءت جارية سوداء، فقالت: يا رسول الله، إني كنت نذرت إن ردك الله تعالى سالما ان اضرب على راسك بالدف، فقال: " إن كنت نذرت، فافعلي، وإلا فلا"، قالت: إني كنت نذرت، قال: فقعد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فضربت بالدف .
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from a certain expedition, a black woman came to the presence of the Prophet and said, "I had vowed that if Allah brought you back safely, I would play the duff before you in celebration." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If you made this vow, then fulfill your vow, and if you did not, then do not do it." So she began to play the duff.

حدثنا ابن نمير ، حدثني اجلح الكندي ، عن عبد الله بن بريدة ، عن ابيه بريدة ، قال: بعث رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بعثين إلى اليمن، على احدهما علي بن ابي طالب، وعلى الآخر خالد بن الوليد، فقال:" إذا التقيتم فعلي على الناس، وإن افترقتما، فكل واحد منكما على جنده"، قال: فلقينا بني زيد من اهل اليمن، فاقتتلنا، فظهر المسلمون على المشركين، فقتلنا المقاتلة، وسبينا الذرية، فاصطفى علي امراة من السبي لنفسه، قال بريدة: فكتب معي خالد بن الوليد إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يخبره بذلك، فلما اتيت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، دفعت الكتاب، فقرئ عليه، فرايت الغضب في وجه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقلت: يا رسول الله، هذا مكان العائذ، بعثتني مع رجل وامرتني ان اطيعه، ففعلت ما ارسلت به، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا تقع في علي، فإنه مني وانا منه، وهو وليكم بعدي، وإنه مني وانا منه، وهو وليكم بعدي" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent two detachments towards Yemen. He appointed Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) as the commander of one and Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) as the commander of the other, and said: "When you are together, Ali will be the commander of all, and when you are separate, each will be the commander of his own detachment." So, we encountered Banu Zaid from among the people of Yemen. We fought them, and the Muslims prevailed over the polytheists. We killed the fighters and captured the children. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) selected one of the captive women for himself. Seeing this, Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informing him of this, and sent it with me. I presented myself in the presence of the Prophet and handed over the letter. The letter was read out to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I saw signs of anger on the radiant face of the Prophet. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! I seek refuge in Allah. You sent me with a man and ordered me to obey him. I have acted upon that command." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do not fall into any misunderstanding regarding Ali. He is from me and I am from him, and after me, he is your beloved." (He said this sentence twice.)

Hadith Number: 23013
حدثنا ابو كامل ، حدثنا زهير ، حدثنا الوليد بن ثعلبة الطائي ، عن ابن بريدة ، عن ابيه ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " من قال حين يصبح، او حين يمسي: اللهم انت ربي لا إله إلا انت، خلقتني وانا عبدك، وانا على عهدك ووعدك ما استطعت، اعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت، ابوء بنعمتك علي، وابوء بذنبي فاغفر لي، إنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا انت، فمات من يومه، او من ليلته، دخل الجنة" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever, in the morning and evening, says: "O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no deity except You, You created me, I am Your servant, and as much as possible I remain firm on the covenant and promise made to You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my sins. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me and I confess my sins. So forgive my sins, for none forgives sins except You," and if he dies that day or night, he will enter Paradise.

Hadith Number: 23014
حدثنا اسود بن عامر ، حدثنا شريك ، عن ابي ربيعة ، عن ابن بريدة ، عن ابيه ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " امرني الله عز وجل بحب اربعة من اصحابي ارى شريكا، قال: واخبرني انه يحبهم علي منهم، وابو ذر، وسلمان، والمقداد الكندي" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has commanded me to love four people from among my companions (may Allah be pleased with them). One of them is Ali, the second is Abu Dharr Ghifari, the third is Salman Farsi, and the fourth is Miqdad bin Aswad Kindi. (may Allah be pleased with them)
