It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is not permissible for a Muslim to sever relations with his brother for more than three days; when they meet, one turns his face this way and the other that way, and the better of the two is the one who initiates the greeting of peace (salaam).

Once there was a difference of opinion between Hazrat Miswar and Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them). They had a doubt regarding the Muhrim who pours water over his head. Then they sent a man to Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask: How did you see the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) washing his head? He replied: Like this, from front to back. The narrator demonstrated the manner in which it was done.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that at the time of decline (zawal), the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would always perform four rak‘ahs. One day I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is this prayer upon which I see you being so regular?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "At the time of decline, the gates of the heavens are opened and are not closed until the Zuhr prayer is performed. Therefore, I wish that at that time a good deed of mine ascends to the heavens." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Do you recite (Qur'an) in these four rak‘ahs?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes!" I asked, "Is there salam after two rak‘ahs in them?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "No."

Marthad bin Abdullah Yazni (may Allah have mercy on him) says that in our place, Egypt, the companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), came for jihad. At that time, Hazrat Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) had appointed our leader as Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him). One day, Hazrat Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) delayed the Maghrib prayer. After finishing the prayer, Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) went to him and said, "O Uqbah! Did you see the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performing the Maghrib prayer like this? Did you not hear the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say that my Ummah will remain upon goodness as long as they do not delay the Maghrib prayer until the stars appear?"

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you goes to the toilet, he should not face the Qiblah, rather he should turn towards the east or the west. But when we reached Syria, we found that the toilets there were built facing the Qiblah, so we would turn our faces away while sitting in them and seek forgiveness.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that it was the practice of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that when something was given as a gift, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would also send some of it to Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him). So one day Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) came home and saw a bowl in which there were onions. He asked, "What is this?" The family members said, "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has sent this." He went to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! You did not even touch this bowl?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I saw onions in it." He asked, "Are onions not lawful for us?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Why not, you may eat it, but I do not like its smell." He said, "Then whatever you do not like, I also do not like."
