Hadith of Uqbah ibn Amir Al-Juhani from the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith Number: 17336
It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever learns the art of archery and then forgets it, he has shown ingratitude to the one who taught him that blessing.

Khalid bin Zaid says that Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) used to come to me and say, "Come with us, let us practice archery." One day I was feeling heavy, so he said, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say that Allah Almighty will admit three people into Paradise because of a single arrow: one who made it with a good intention, the second who assisted in it, and the third who shot it. Therefore, practice archery and horseback riding, and to me, archery is more preferable than horseback riding. And everything that makes a person heedless is falsehood, except for a man's bow and arrows, his care of his horse, and his playful interaction with his wife, for these things are true. And whoever learns the art of archery and then forgets it, he has shown ingratitude to the one who taught him." The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.

And he said: "Shoot and ride, and if you shoot it is better than if you ride." And he said: "Everything with which the son of Adam amuses himself is falsehood, except for three: his shooting with his bow, his training of his horse, and his playing with his family, for these are of the truth." He said: So ‘Uqbah died and he had a few and sixty or a few and seventy bows, with each bow a horn and arrows, and he bequeathed them in the way of Allah. Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Hisham narrated to us, from Yahya, from Abu Salam, from ‘Abdullah ibn al-Azraq, that ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, admits by a single arrow three people into Paradise." Then he mentioned the hadith.

Abdur Rahman bin Aaidh, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir, may Allah be pleased with him, set out to pray in Masjid Aqsa. Some people followed behind him. Hazrat Uqbah, may Allah be pleased with him, asked them the reason for accompanying him. They replied that since you had the honor of being in the company of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, we want to walk with you and have come to greet you. Hazrat Uqbah, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "Stop here and pray." So everyone stopped and prayed. After finishing the prayer, he said, "I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Whoever meets Allah in such a state that he does not associate anyone with Him and has not stained his hands with anyone's blood, he will be permitted to enter Paradise through whichever door he wishes."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rode on it, and Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) began to drive it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Recite." He submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings be upon him) What should I recite?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Recite Surah Al-Alaq." So he recited it before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). However, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) realized that I was not very pleased with it. So he said, "Perhaps it seems little to you? You will not recite any surah in prayer more eloquent than Surah Al-Falaq."
