And I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbidding something like this, and he took out a lock of hair from his sleeve and said: "The children of Israel were only destroyed when their women took to such things."

Alqamah bin Waqas (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once we were with Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) when the muezzin began to give the adhan. Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) also began to repeat the same words. When he said «حي على الصلوة» , he said «لا حول ولا قوة الا بالله» , and in response to «حي على الفلاح» , he said the same. After that, he continued to repeat the words of the muezzin.
