It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Aqrab that I asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) about fasting, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Keep one fast every month. I said that I have the strength for more than that. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: What is this that you say you have the strength for more than that, the strength for more than that? Keep two fasts every month. I submitted: O Messenger of Allah, please increase it a little more. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: What is this that you say to increase it? Just keep three fasts every month.

Humaid bin Hilal says that a man from the Tufawah tribe used to pass by us. One day he came to our tribe and said, "I went to Madinah Munawwarah with a caravan of mine. There we sold our trade goods. Then I thought that I should go to that person, meaning the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ), so that after returning I could inform those behind me about him. So I set out towards the Prophet When I reached there, the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) showed me a house and said, 'A woman used to live in this house. Once, she went out with a Muslim army and left behind twelve goats and a spindle with which she used to weave cloth. When she returned, she saw that one of her goats and the spindle were missing. She pleaded in the court of Allah, saying, "O Lord, You are the guarantor of those who go out in Your path for jihad that You will protect them. Now my goat and spindle are lost. I beseech You to return my goat and spindle." The Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) mentioned the intensity of her supplication and said that the next day she found her goat and another goat like it, and similarly her spindle and another spindle like it.' The Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said, 'Come, if you wish, you can ask that woman yourself.' I said, 'I affirm your truthfulness.'"

Hazrat Hanzalah bin Huzaym says that his grandfather Hanifah once said to his father Huzaym, "Gather all my sons here so that I may make a will to them." So he gathered them all, and Hanifah said, "My first will is that my orphaned nephew, who is under my care, should be given one hundred camels, which we used to call 'Matiyah' in the days of ignorance." Huzaym said, "Father, I have heard your sons saying that in front of you we will agree to this, but after your death, we will go back on our word." Hanifah said, "Between me and you is the Prophet (peace be upon him)." Huzaym said, "We are content with that." So Huzaym and Hanifah got up, and with them was Hanzalah, who was a young boy and was sitting behind Huzaym on the mount. They went to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and greeted him. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked Hanifah, "O Abu Huzaym, what brings you here?" He replied, "Because of this," and struck Huzaym's thigh and said, "I feared that sudden death might overtake me, so I thought to make a will. So I told my children that my first will is that my orphaned nephew, who is under my care, should be given one hundred camels, which we used to call 'Matiyah' in the days of ignorance." At this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) became displeased, and we saw signs of anger on his blessed face. He was sitting at first, then he bent on his knees and said three times, "No, no, no! Charity is of five camels, or otherwise ten camels, or otherwise fifteen camels, or otherwise twenty, or otherwise thirty, or otherwise thirty-five, or otherwise forty, and if it is very much, even then." So they left it. That orphan had a stick and was striking one of his camels with it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) saw this and said, "It is a great thing, this is the orphan's stick." Hanzalah says, "Then they took me to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, 'Some of my sons are grown and some are younger than this; he is the youngest among them. Please pray to Allah for him.' So the Prophet (peace be upon him) passed his hand over his head and said, 'May Allah bless you.'" Ziyal says, "I saw that if a man with a swollen face was brought to Hazrat Hanzalah bin Huzaym, or an animal with swollen udders, he would put his saliva on his hands, say 'Bismillah,' place his hand on its head, and say, 'On the place of the palm of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him),' and pass it over, and its swelling would go away."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ghadiah Juhani that I pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the Day of Aqabah. The Prophet (peace be upon him), addressing us, said: "O people, until the Day of Resurrection, the lives and wealth of people are made unlawful for one another, just as the sanctity of this day in this month and in this city is inviolable. Have I conveyed the message of Allah?" The people affirmed. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "O Allah, bear witness. Remember, do not turn into disbelievers after me, striking each other's necks."

It is narrated from Hazrat Mirthad that a letter from the Prophet (peace be upon him) came to us, but we could not find any literate person who could read it out to us. Eventually, a man from Banu Zubay‘ah read the letter to us, the contents of which were: "From the Messenger of Allah to Bakr bin Wa’il: Accept Islam and you will find safety."

Abu Nazrah says that some companions came to visit a companion whose name was mentioned as Abu Abdullah, and saw that he was crying. They asked the reason for his crying and said, "Did the Prophet (peace be upon him) not say to you: Trim your mustaches and keep doing so consistently until you meet me?" He replied, "Why not, but I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say: Allah Almighty took a handful of dust with His right hand and took another handful with His other hand and said, 'This handful is for these (people of Paradise) and this handful is for these (people of Hell), and I do not care.' It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah Faqimi that once we were waiting for the Prophet (peace be upon him). After a short while, the Prophet (peace be upon him) came out, and due to ablution or ghusl, drops of water were dripping from his blessed head. The Prophet (peace be upon him) offered prayer, and when he finished the prayer, people began to ask, "O Messenger of Allah, is there any hardship upon us in this matter?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "O people, there is only ease, ease in the religion of Allah." He repeated this sentence three times.

Adisah bint Wahban says that she was with her father in their house when he fell ill. When he recovered from his illness, not long after, Hazrat Ali came to Basra and also came to their house. He stood at the door of the house and greeted them with salam. Her father replied to him. Hazrat Ali asked him, "Abu Muslim! How are you?" He said, "I am well." Hazrat Ali said, "Why do you not come out with me to those people and help me?" He said, "Why not, provided that you agree to what I will give you." Hazrat Ali asked, "What is that?" He said to his daughter, "Girl, bring me my sword." I took out his sword with its sheath and placed it in his lap. He drew part of it out from the sheath, then raised his head and said to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), "My friend and your cousin, the Prophet (peace be upon him), took a covenant from me that when tribulations begin to appear among the Muslims, I should make my sword of wood. Here is my sword present; if you wish, I am ready to go out with you with this." Hazrat Ali said, "For now, we do not need you or your sword immediately." Then he went out from the door of the room and did not come again regarding this matter.

He replied, "My friend and your cousin made me promise that when turmoil appears among the Muslims, I should break my sword and make a wooden sword. Now turmoil is appearing, so I have broken my sword and made a wooden one." Then, during his final illness, he advised his family that they should give him a shroud but not put a shirt on him.
It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Taghlib that once something came to the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) gave it to some people and left out some others. Later, the Prophet (peace be upon him) came to know that those whom he had left out were upset and talking among themselves. The Prophet (peace be upon him) then ascended the pulpit, and after praising and glorifying Allah, said: "I give to some people and leave out others, even though the ones I leave out are more beloved to me than those to whom I give. I give to some people only because their hearts are filled with impatience and miserliness, and I entrust some people to the richness and goodness that Allah has placed in their hearts. Among them is Amr bin Taghlib as well." I was sitting right in front of the Prophet (peace be upon him) at that time. I would not like to have red camels in exchange for this statement of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
