It is narrated from Hazrat Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us and led us in the Maghrib prayer in our mosque. After finishing the prayer, regarding the two Sunnah rak‘ahs after Maghrib, he said: "Perform these two rak‘ahs in your homes."

Abu Abdur Rahman says: I asked my father, Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him), that someone says if a person performs the two rak‘ahs after Maghrib in the mosque, it is not permissible except that he performs them at home, because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is among the prayers of the home." He (Imam Ahmad) asked: "Who says this?" I replied: "Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman." He said: "He has spoken well."

It is narrated from Hazrat Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day when the son of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Hazrat Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him), passed away, the sun was eclipsed. People began to say that the sun was eclipsed because of the death of Ibrahim. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah; they are not eclipsed because of anyone’s death or life. When you see them eclipsed, then hasten towards the mosques. Then the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and, according to our estimation, recited as much as Surah Ibrahim, performed ruku‘, stood straight, performed two prostrations, and did the same in the second rak‘ah as he had done in the first.

It is narrated from Hazrat Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What I fear most for you is minor shirk (associating partners with Allah in a lesser form)." The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by minor shirk?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Showing off (riya)." Allah Almighty will say to those who showed off on the Day of Judgment, "When people are being rewarded for their deeds, go to those for whom you used to perform deeds to show them in the world, and see if you find any reward with them."
