Yaqoub narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, Muhammad ibn Muslim al-Zuhri narrated to me, from Abdullah ibn Tha'laba ibn Su'air al-Udhri—and in what was read to Yaqoub: al-Udhri, the ally of Banu Zuhrah—he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, looked over the companions of Uhud, and he mentioned the meaning of the hadith of Yazid.

It is narrated from an Ansari companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the time of ignorance, the practice of "Qasamah" was prevalent. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) maintained it in the same manner as it was in the time of ignorance, and in the case of some Ansar—who belonged to Banu Harithah and had made a claim against the Jews—the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the same ruling.
