It is narrated from Hazrat Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the return from Arafat, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seated him behind himself. When they reached the valley, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) dismounted and relieved himself. Then I poured water over him and he performed a light ablution. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted his ride and reached Muzdalifah, and did not pray on the way.

Zabraqan says that once a group of Quraysh passed by Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him). They were all together. They sent their two slaves to Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask, "What is meant by the 'middle prayer' (Salat al-Wusta)?" He replied that it refers to the Asr prayer. Then two men stood up and asked the same question, so he replied that it refers to the Zuhr prayer. Then both of them went to Hazrat Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him the same question, and he also said it is the Zuhr prayer, and said that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer the Zuhr prayer during the midday heat, and behind the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) there would be only one or two rows, and people would be busy with siesta or trade. Upon this, Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "Guard strictly the prayers, especially the middle prayer, and stand before Allah with devotion." Then the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Let people stop this behavior, otherwise I will burn their houses down.

It is narrated from Hazrat Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) that I also heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: On the Day of Resurrection, a man will be brought and thrown into Hell, and his intestines will come out, and he will revolve around them as a donkey revolves around a millstone. Seeing this, all the people of Hell will gather around him and say, "O so-and-so! What has happened to you? Did you not used to command us to do good and forbid us from evil?" He will reply, "I used to command you to do good, but I did not do it myself, and I used to forbid you from sins, but I used to do them myself."

Yahya bin Qais says that I asked Ata about exchanging dinar for dinar and dirham for dirham when there is something extra between them, so he said that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) considers it permissible. Upon this, Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) said that Ibn Abbas is narrating something which he did not hear directly from the Prophet (peace be upon him). When Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) came to know of this, he said: I did not hear this directly from the Prophet (peace be upon him), but Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) told me that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Riba (usury) is related to credit or delay.

Aamir bin Sa’d (may Allah have mercy on him) says that a man came to Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask about the plague. Hazrat Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) said,“I will tell you about it. I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The plague is a punishment which Allah the Exalted sent upon the people before you (the Children of Israel). Sometimes it comes and sometimes it goes. Therefore, if an epidemic spreads in a region, do not go into that region, and if an epidemic spreads in a region where you are already present, do not flee from it.”

It is narrated from Hazrat Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) that once (the granddaughter of the Prophet) Umaymah bint Zainab was brought to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), her soul was departing as if it were in a waterskin. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What has been taken also belongs to Allah, and what has been given also belongs to Allah, and everything has an appointed time with Him." Tears began to flow from the eyes of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Seeing this, Hazrat Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Are you also weeping?" He replied, "This is mercy which Allah places in the hearts of whichever of His servants He wills, and Allah shows mercy only to those of His servants who are merciful."
