Amr bin Maymoon Awdi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that when the messenger of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), Hazrat Mu’adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), came to us in Yemen, it was the time of suhoor (pre-dawn meal). He was proclaiming the takbeer in a loud and awe-inspiring voice. Love for him became deeply rooted in my heart, so I did not separate from him until, after his death in Shaam (Syria), I had thrown earth upon his grave. May Allah’s mercy descend upon him. Then, after him, I looked for the most knowledgeable person and presented myself to Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (may Allah be pleased with him). He said to me,“What will you do when such rulers come over you who delay the prayer from its proper time?”I said,“If I reach that time, what do you command me to do?”He said,“Perform your prayer at its appointed time, and join the rulers in prayer with the intention of nafl (supererogatory) prayer.”

It is narrated from Hazrat Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once said to us: Seek refuge with Allah from that greed which reaches the state of sealing the hearts; also seek refuge from that greed which leads to something purposeless; and seek refuge with Allah from such greed where there is no greed at all.

It is narrated from Hazrat Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The flourishing of Bayt al-Maqdis is a sign of the desolation of Madinah Munawwarah, and the desolation of Madinah Munawwarah is a sign of the beginning of wars, and the beginning of wars is a sign of the conquest of Constantinople, and the conquest of Constantinople will be a prelude to the emergence of Dajjal. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) struck his thigh or shoulder and said: All these things are as true and certain as your sitting here is certain.

It is narrated from Hazrat Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) and Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would camp at any place, his Muhajir Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) would be close to him. Once, we camped at a place and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up for prayer at night while we were sleeping around. Suddenly, Hazrat Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) and I woke up at night and did not find the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in his sleeping place. We set out in search of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and we heard a sound like that produced by a millstone, and we stopped in our tracks. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was coming from the direction of that sound. When he came near, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What happened to you?" We replied, "When we woke up and did not find you in your place, we feared that some harm might have come to you, so we set out to search for you." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A messenger from my Lord came to me and gave me the choice between two things: that half of my Ummah would enter Paradise, or that I would be granted the right of intercession. So I preferred the aspect of intercession." Both of us said, "O Messenger of Allah! We ask you, by Islam and the right of your companionship, to pray to Allah that He includes us in your intercession." Other people also arrived and began to make the same request, and their number increased. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Every person who dies in such a state that he does not associate anyone with Allah will be included in my intercession."

It is narrated from Hazrat Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) that an Ansari man came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "I saw a dream last night which I remember as clearly as if it happened while I was awake. I saw a man who descended from the sky, wearing two green sheets. He landed on a tree in a garden of Madinah Munawwarah and repeated the words of the adhan twice each. Then he sat down, and after a while, he gave the iqamah, and in that too, he repeated the words twice each." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You have seen a very good dream. Teach these words to Bilal." Hazrat Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I also saw a similar dream, but he preceded me."
