It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once she asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about "plague." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told her that it was a punishment which Allah used to send upon whomsoever He willed, but for the Muslims of this Ummah, Allah has made it a mercy. Now, whoever is afflicted with the plague and remains in that city with patience, seeking reward, and is certain that only that calamity will befall him which Allah has written for him, then he will receive the reward equal to that of a martyr.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting in such a way that the cloth had slipped from his blessed thigh. In the meantime, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission to enter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him permission and remained seated in the same state. Then Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission to enter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him permission and remained seated in the same state. Then Hazrat Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission to enter. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) covered himself with the cloth and also told Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) to gather the cloth. When those people left, I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Abu Bakr and Umar sought permission from you, and you granted them permission and remained seated in the same state, but when Uthman sought permission, you covered yourself with the cloth?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Aisha! Should I not show modesty before the one, by Allah, before whom even the angels show modesty?"
