حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن سوقة ، قال: قيل لابن المنكدر : اتحج وعليك دين؟ فقال: " الحج اقضى للدين" .
Muhammad bin Suqah narrates: Ibn al-Munkadir was asked, "If you are in debt, will you perform Hajj?" He replied, "Hajj will enable the repayment of debt in a better way."

حدثنا سفيان، قال: واخبرني المنكدر بن محمد بن المنكدر، عن ابيه , انه قيل له: " اتحج بالصبيان؟ فقال: نعم، اعرضهم على الله" .
Munkadir bin Muhammad narrates from his father: He was asked, "Will you make children perform Hajj?" He replied, "Yes! I will present them before Allah Almighty."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا الزهري ، قال: سمعت سليمان بن يسار ، يقول: سمعت ابن عباس ، يقول:" إن امراة من خثعم سالت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم غداة النحر والفضل ردفه، فقالت: " إن فريضة الله على عباده ادركت ابي وهو شيخ كبير لا يستطيع ان يستمسك على الراحلة، فهل ترى ان نحج عنه؟ قال: نعم" . قال سفيان: وكان عمرو بن دينار حدثناه اولا، عن الزهري ، عن سليمان بن يسار ، عن ابن عباس وزاد فيه، فقلت: يا رسول الله او ينفعه ذلك؟ قال:" نعم، كما لو كان على احدكم دين فقضاه"، فلما جاءنا الزهري، فقعد به فلم يقله.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: A woman from the tribe of Khath’am asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a question on the morning of the Day of Sacrifice, while Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The woman said: Allah Almighty has made Hajj obligatory upon His servants, and it has become obligatory upon my father as well, but he is an old man and cannot sit firmly on a mount. What is your opinion, O Messenger of Allah? Should I perform Hajj on his behalf? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied:“Yes.”Sufyan says: Amr bin Dinar narrated this tradition to us earlier from Zuhri, from Sulayman bin Yasar, from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he narrated these additional words in it: I said: O Messenger of Allah! Will it benefit him? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Yes! Just as if a person had a debt and someone paid it off for him.”When Zuhri came to us, I found these words missing; he did not narrate these words.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عمرو ، قال: اخبرني طاوس ، قال: سمعت ابن عباس ، يقول:" اما الذي نهى عنه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فهو الطعام ان يباع حتى يستوفى" ، وربما قال سفيان: حتى يكال. قال ابن عباس: برايه ولا احسب كل شيء إلا مثله.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: As for the matter which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade, it is such grain that is sold before it is fully measured. Here, the narrator named Sufyan has sometimes reported these words: "Until it is measured." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) expressed his opinion: "I think the ruling for everything is the same as this."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عمرو ، قال: قلت لطاوس : يا ابا عبد الرحمن! لو تركت المخابرة، فإنهم يزعمون ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم نهى عنها، فقال: اي عمرو اخبرني اعلمهم بذلك يعني ابن عباس : ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لم ينه عنها، ولكن قال: " لان يمنح احدكم اخاه ارضه خير له من ان ياخذ عليه خرجا معلوما" ، وإن معاذا حين قدم اليمن اقرهم عليها، وإني اي عمرو اعينهم واعطيهم، فإن ربحوا فلي ولهم وإن نقصوا، فعلي وعليهم وإن الحيقلة في الانصار، فسل عنها، فسالت علي بن رفاعة، فقال: هي المخابرة.
The narrator named Amr says: I said to Tawus, "O Abu Abdur Rahman! If you refrain from giving (land) on lease, it would be appropriate, because people have narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade this." So Tawus replied, "O Amr! The person who has more knowledge than all these people,"—by this Tawus meant Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both)—"he has informed me that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not forbid this. He (peace be upon him) said: 'If a person gives his land (without compensation) to his brother, it is better for him than taking a fixed compensation from him.'" Then Tawus said: "When Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Yemen, he allowed the people there to continue this practice." Amr says: "I help those people and give them gifts; if they benefit, I also benefit and so do they; if there is a decrease in the produce, I also bear the loss and so do they. The custom of Haqla was prevalent among the Ansar. You should inquire about this." (The narrator says:) "I asked Ali bin Rifa'ah about this, and he said: 'This is Mukhabarah.'"

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ابن ابي نجيح ، عن عبد الله بن كثير الداري ، عن ابي المنهال ، عن ابن عباس ، قال: قدم النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم المدينة وهم يسلفون في التمر السنتين والثلاث، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " من اسلف، فليسلف في تمر معلوم، ووزن معلوم، وكيل معلوم إلى اجل معلوم" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah, the people there used to conduct salam (advance sale) transactions in dates for two or three years. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Whoever wants to do a salam transaction should do so for a specified quantity of dates, with a specified weight or a specified measure, for a specified period.”

حدثنا سفيان ، عن ابن ابي حسين ، وفطر انهما سمعا ابا الطفيل ، يقول: قلت لابن عباس :" ان قومك يزعمون، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم رمل بالبيت وبين الصفا والمروة، وإنها سنة"، فقال ابن عباس: صدقوا وكذبوا , اراد فطرا: صدقوا قد رمل، وكذبوا: ليست بسنة .
Abu Tufail narrates: I said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): Some people of your tribe state that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ramal (brisk walking) at the House of Allah, and also performed ramal between Safa and Marwah, and that this is Sunnah. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) replied: These people have said something correct and something incorrect. The narrator Fitr has further narrated these words: They have spoken the truth that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ramal, but they have spoken incorrectly that it is Sunnah.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ايوب السختياني ، عن سعيد بن جبير ، قال:" اتيت ابن عباس بعرفة، فوجدته ياكل رمانا، فقال: ادن فكل لعلك صائم؟ إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لم يصم هذا اليوم" .
Saeed bin Jubair narrates: I came to Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) at Arafah, and I saw him eating pomegranate. He said: Come forward and eat as well! Perhaps you are fasting; the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not fast on this day.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عمرو ، قال: اخبرني محمد بن حنين مولى آل العباس، قال: سمعت عبد الله بن عباس يتعجب ممن يتقدم الشهر بالصيام، ويقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " إذا رايتموه، فصوموا وإذا رايتموه، فافطروا، فإن غم عليكم فاكملوا العدة ثلاثين" .
Muhammad bin Haneen narrates: I heard Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) expressing amazement at the person who starts fasting a day before the month of Ramadan begins. Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When you see it (the new moon), then start fasting, and when you see it, then stop fasting, and if it is cloudy for you, then complete the count to thirty."

Hadith Number 524

الحميدي، حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا الزهري ، قال: سمعت عبيد الله يحدث، عن ابن عباس " ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم خرج من المدينة عام الفتح في شهر رمضان، فصام حتى إذا بلغ الكديد افطر ، قال: وإنما يؤخذ بالآخر من فعل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم. قال سفيان: لا ادري، قاله الزهري: عن عبيد الله او عن ابن عباس.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: On the occasion of the conquest of Makkah, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) set out from Madinah Munawwarah in the month of Ramadan. He (peace be upon him) was fasting, and when he (peace be upon him) reached the place of Kudayd, he broke his fast. The narrator states: The last practice of the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to be adopted. Sufyan says: I do not know whether Zuhri narrated these words from Ubaydullah or from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him).
