Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that (the recitation of) the Qur'an will be done in every prayer. In those prayers in which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the Qur'an aloud to us, we will also recite aloud to you, and in those prayers in which he recited quietly, we will also recite quietly. And if you recite only Surah Al-Fatihah, that is sufficient, but if you recite more, it is better.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque. Meanwhile, a man came and started to pray. After completing his prayer, he came and greeted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with salam. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned the greeting and said, "Go back and pray again, for you have not prayed." So he went back and prayed again, then came and greeted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with salam. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again said, "Go back and pray again, for you have not prayed." This happened three times. Finally, the man said, "By Him Who has sent you with the truth, I cannot pray better than this, so please teach me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "When you stand for prayer, first say the takbir (Allahu Akbar), then recite from the Qur'an whatever is easy for you. Then bow (ruku‘) and perform ruku‘ properly. Then raise your head and stand up straight. Then when you prostrate (sujud), perform sujud properly. Then raise your head and sit properly. Then prostrate again in the same way. Do this in all your prayers (rak‘ahs)."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that when we (in the early days of Islam) used to pray with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), we would say: Peace be upon Allah before His servants, peace be upon Jibreel, peace be upon Mika’il, peace be upon so-and-so. Then (once), when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, he turned towards us and said: Allah Himself is Peace, so when any of you sits in prayer, he should say:“All greetings, prayers, and pure words are for Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah.”Because when he recites this supplication, it will reach every righteous servant in the heavens and the earth.“I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.”After this, he has the choice to recite whatever supplication he wishes, but this is after reciting the Salat (blessings) upon the Prophet.

I said, "Yes, please bestow this gift upon me." He narrated, "We asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), 'O Messenger of Allah, how should we send blessings upon you and your family? Allah has already taught us how to send salutations.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'Say: O Allah, send Your mercy upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your mercy upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Surely, You are Most Praiseworthy, Most Glorious. O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fell from a horse and his right side was injured due to this fall. So we came to visit him to inquire about his health. Meanwhile, the time for prayer arrived and he led us in prayer while sitting, so we also sat down. When he finished the prayer, he said: "The Imam is appointed so that he may be followed. Therefore, when he says the takbir, you should also say the takbir; when he bows (in ruku‘), you should also bow; when he raises his head, you should also raise your heads; and when he says 'Sami‘ Allahu liman hamidah,' you should say 'Rabbana wa lakal hamd'; and when he prostrates, you should also prostrate."
