بَابٌ فِي الِاسْتِثَارِ عِنْدَ الْغُسْلِ
Chapter on Concealment During Ghusl
Hadith Number: 863
عن يعلى بن امية رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((إن الله عز وجل حيي ستير، فإذا اراد احدكم ان يغتسل فليتوار بشيء))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily, Allah Almighty is very modest and concealing, so when a person intends to bathe, he should cover himself with something.

Hadith Number: 864
وعنه ايضا قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((إن الله عز وجل يحب الحياء والستر))
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily, Allah Almighty loves modesty and concealment.

Hadith Number: 865
عن ابي مرة مولى عقيل بن ابي طالب عن ام هانئ (بنت ابي طالب) رضي الله عنها انها ذهبت إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يوم الفتح قالت: فوجدته يغتسل وفاطمة تستره بثوب، (الحديث) سياتي بتمامه في غزوة فتح مكة إن شاء الله تعالى
It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Hani (RA) that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, she went to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She says: I found the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the state that he was performing ghusl (ritual bath), and Sayyida Fatima (RA) was screening him with a cloth... (This complete hadith will be mentioned in the chapter of the Battle of the Conquest of Makkah.)

Hadith Number: 866
عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((بينما ايوب يغتسل عريانا خر عليه جراد من ذهب، فجعل ايوب يحثي في ثوبه، فناداه ربه يا ايوب! الم اكن اغنيتك عما ترى؟ قال: بلى يا رب، ولكن لا غنى بي عن بركتك))
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Prophet Ayyub (peace be upon him) was bathing in a naked state when golden locusts began to fall upon him. Prophet Ayyub (peace be upon him) started gathering them in his garment. His Lord called out to him: O Ayyub! Did I not make you independent of that which you see? He replied: Yes indeed, O my Lord! But there is no indifference from Your blessing.

بَابٌ فِي مِقْدَارِ مَاءِ الْغُسْلِ وَالْوُضُوءِ
Chapter on the Amount of Water for Ghusl and Ablution
Hadith Number: 867
عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنه قال: قال رجل: كم يكفيني من الوضوء؟ قال: مد، قال: كم يكفيني للغسل؟ قال: صاع، قال: فقال الرجل: لا يكفيني، قال: لا ام لك قد كفى من هو خير منك رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas that a man asked: How much water is sufficient for me for ablution? He replied: One mudd. The man asked: How much water is sufficient for me for bathing? He replied: One sa‘. Upon hearing this, the man said: This amount will not suffice for me. He (Ibn Abbas) said: May your mother lose you! This amount was sufficient for the one who is better than you, that is, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.

Hadith Number: 868
عن انس بن مالك رضي الله عنه قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يتوضا بإناء يكون رطلين ويغتسل بالصاع
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution with a vessel containing two ritls of water and would perform ghusl with one sa’ of water.

Hadith Number: 869
عن جابر بن عبد الله رضي الله عنه قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يغتسل بالصاع ويتوضا بالمد
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ghusl with one sa’ of water and wudu with one mudd of water.

Hadith Number: 870
عن سفينة رضي الله عنه مولى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم كان يوضئه المد ويغسله الصاع من الجنابة
Mawla-e-Rasool Sayyiduna Safina (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution with one mudd and would perform ghusl for janabah with one saa’.

Hadith Number: 871
عن عائشة رضي الله عنها ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم كان يتوضا بالمد ويغتسل بنحو الصاع
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution with one mudd of water and take a bath with the amount of one sa’ of water.

Hadith Number: 872
عن موسى الجهني قال: جئنا بعس في رمضان، فحزرته بثمانية او تسعة او عشرة ارطال، فقال مجاهد: حدثتني عائشة ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم كان يغتسل بمثل هٰذا
Musa Jahni says: People brought a large bowl in Ramadan; I estimated that it was eight, nine, or ten ratl. Mujahid said: Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ghusl with a vessel of this kind.
