Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite a Surah containing a verse of prostration before us, while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was not in prayer. Then, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the prostration of recitation, we would also prostrate along with him (peace and blessings be upon him), to the extent that some of us would not even find a place to put our foreheads down.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mutlib bin Abu Wada‘ah Sahmi, he says: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah An-Najm in Makkah and performed sajdah (prostration), and those who were with him also performed sajdah. After accepting Islam, whenever he heard anyone reciting it, he would perform sajdah.
