It is narrated from Humaid bin Hilal, who narrates from a man of the tribe of Abdul Qais, who was initially with the Khawarij, then separated from them. It is narrated from him that the Khawarij entered a settlement, and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) came out of that settlement, dragging his cloak and appearing frightened. The Khawarij said to him: Do not worry, do not be afraid, nothing will be said to you. He said: By Allah, you people have indeed frightened me. The Khawarij said: Are you Abdullah, the son of Khabbab, the companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: Yes. The Khawarij asked: Have you heard any hadith from your father, which he narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? Please narrate that hadith to us. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Yes, I heard my father say, he narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he mentioned a tribulation, during which the one sitting is better than the one standing, the one standing is better than the one walking, and the one walking at a normal pace is better than the one running in the tribulation. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you encounter such circumstances, then become the slain servant of Allah. The student of Humaid, Ayyub, said: I am certain that Humaid bin Hilal further narrated that you should not become the killer servant of Allah. The Khawarij asked: Did you hear this hadith directly from your father, that he narrated it from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Yes, absolutely. A member of Abdul Qais narrates that despite hearing this hadith, they took Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) to the bank of the river and beheaded him, and his blood flowed into the river water as if it were a shoelace (i.e., it did not dissolve in the water but flowed like a thread or lace in the water). And those oppressors also ripped open the belly of his slave woman.

Sulaiman, another student of Humaid bin Hilal, also narrated this hadith from him in the same manner. However, instead of the word "ma abdhara," he used the word "ma abdharaqa," though the meaning and sense of both are the same. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Do not become a servant killed by Allah Almighty.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a person who was called Dhu’l-Bijadayn, regarding him the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He is“awwāh.”That is, while remembering Allah, he would be overcome with emotion. That person used to recite the Noble Qur’an abundantly, remember Allah much, and supplicate in a loud voice.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn al-Adra’ (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: One night I was standing guard for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he came out for some need. When he saw me, he took my hand. As we walked, we passed by a man who was praying and reciting (the Qur’an) aloud. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is possible that this is someone showing off. I said: O Messenger of Allah! He is performing prayer while reciting aloud. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) shook off my hand and then said: Even if you try, you cannot reach this station. Ibn al-Adra’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Once again, I was standing guard for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at night, and he came out for some need. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took my hand, and as we walked, we passed by a man who was performing prayer while reciting aloud. I said: It is possible that this is someone showing off. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Never, rather he is a person who turns to Allah Most High very much. When I looked, it was Sayyiduna Abdullah Dhu’l-Bijadayn (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that it was the habit of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever he met any of his friends, he would say to him: "Come, let us sit for a while and believe in our Lord" (i.e., by talking about the Lord, let us renew our faith). In the same way, he said this to a man, and he became angry. He went and said to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah! Look at Ibn Rawahah, he turns away from your faith and inclines towards faith for a while." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah have mercy on Ibn Rawahah, he likes such gatherings upon which the angels are pleased."

Sanan bin Abi Sinan said that he heard Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) standing and giving admonition and advice. In the middle, he said: Your brother Ibn Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) did not compose frivolous poetry; rather, in his poetry, he said things like this:

"And among us is the Messenger of Allah, reciting His Book, when the well-known part of the night has passed and its light shines forth.
He spends the night keeping his side away from his bed, while the disbelievers are weighed down on their beds (i.e., sleeping heavily).
He showed us guidance after blindness, so our hearts are certain that whatever he says is true and will come to pass."

And among us is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he recites His Book when the well-known part of the night has passed.
He spends the night in such a state that his side is separated from his bed, while the disbelievers are weighed down on their beds, i.e., sleeping.
He (peace and blessings be upon him) showed us guidance after our misguidance; our hearts are certain that whatever he says is true and will be fulfilled.

It is narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) that she became pregnant in Mecca, and this child was Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him). She says: When the days of pregnancy were completed, I set out from Mecca towards Madinah Munawwarah and stayed at Quba, and I gave birth to him there. I took him to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and placed him in his (peace be upon him) lap. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for dates, chewed them, and put his blessed saliva into the child’s mouth. The very first thing to enter his stomach was the saliva of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyida Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) says that then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed tahneek with dates, supplicated for him, and prayed for blessings for him. In Islam, this was the first child to be born! What is meant is that this was the first child born to the Muhajireen in Madinah. Otherwise, the first child of the Muhajireen outside Madinah was Abdullah bin Ja’far, who was born in Abyssinia, and after the migration, the first child born among the Ansar was Muslima bin Mukhlad.
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I took Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him a chewed date and said: His name is Abdullah, and (Aisha!) you are Umm Abdullah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him and said: I want to ask you about three things, which only a Prophet knows. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ask. He said: What is the very first sign of the Hour? What will be the first thing the people of Paradise will eat? And how does a child resemble its parents? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jibreel (peace be upon him) has just informed me about these matters. Abdullah bin Salam said: This angel is the enemy of the Jews. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The first sign of the Hour is the fire that will appear from the east and will gather the people, driving them towards the west. The first food the people of Paradise will eat will be the extra lobe of the fish’s liver. As for the resemblance of a child to its father or mother: when the man’s semen prevails over the woman’s, the child resembles the man; and when the woman’s semen prevails over the man’s, the child resembles the mother. Upon hearing these answers, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) exclaimed:“I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that you are indeed the Messenger of Allah.”Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! The Jews are a people given to slander. If they find out about my acceptance of Islam, they will come to you and slander me. Please send for them and ask them about me, what is my status among them? So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a message to the Jews and asked them: What is the status of Ibn Salam among you? They replied: He is the best among us and the son of the best man among us; he is our scholar and the son of a great scholar among us; he is the most knowledgeable in religion among us and the son of the most knowledgeable in religion. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Tell me, if he accepts Islam, will you become Muslims? They said: May Allah protect him from this. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Ibn Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) came forward and proclaimed:“I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah.”Upon hearing this, the Jews immediately said: He is the worst among us and the son of the worst man among us; he is ignorant and the son of an ignorant man among us. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This is what I was afraid of.
