Chapter on What Has Been Narrated Regarding Samurah ibn Fatik, may Allah be pleased with him
Hadith Number: 11746
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Fatik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Samurah is a good man; if only he would cut his hair a little shorter and keep his lower garment above the ankles." Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) immediately acted upon both matters. He shortened his hair and raised his lower garment.

Chapter on What Has Been Narrated Regarding Suhayb ibn Sinan, may Allah be pleased with him
Hadith Number: 11747
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Aslam (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna Suhaib (may Allah be pleased with him): If you did not have three traits, there would be no fault in you. He asked: What are they? By Allah! I have not seen you finding fault in anything. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: One is that you have adopted the kunya (nickname) of Abu Yahya, while you have no children. Second, you attribute yourself to a great person like Namar bin Qasit, while your condition is that you have a stammer in your speech. And third, whatever wealth comes to you, you spend it and do not save it. Upon hearing this, he replied: As for my kunya, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me this kunya, and now I will not abandon it until I meet you, that is, until I die. The second matter, that I attribute myself to Namar bin Qasit, since I am from those people, why should I not attribute myself to them? However, the reality is that I was nursed in Aylah, and this stammer is a result of that. As for spending wealth instead of saving it, what do you think, do I spend it unlawfully?

It is narrated from Hamzah bin Suhaib that the kunyah of Sayyiduna Suhaib (may Allah be pleased with him) was Abu Yahya, and he used to attribute himself to the Arabs, and he used to feed people abundantly. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "Suhaib! You have no children, so why have you adopted the kunyah Abu Yahya? And you claim that you are originally an Arab, and you feed others abundantly—this is a waste of wealth?" Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Suhaib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me the kunyah Abu Yahya. As for your comment about my lineage, I am by family from the clan of the chief of the people of Mosul, Namir bin Qasit. However, I was a small child when I was taken captive, and I forgot my family and my people. As for your statement about my feeding others, remember that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: 'The best among you is the one who feeds others and responds to greetings.' This is what motivates me to feed others."

Hadith Number: 11749
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Dhirar bin Azwar (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I presented myself before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Extend your hand so that I may pledge allegiance to Islam at your hand. Then I recited these verses before you: I have abandoned the arrows of fortune-telling and the songs of singing women in order to seek forgiveness for sins and to express humility before Allah Almighty. And by riding my horse named Muhabbir, I have also abandoned the killings and plundering of the age of ignorance, and now I attack against the polytheists. O Lord, if I find loss in this bargain of mine, I have left my wealth and all my family for the sake of Islam. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Dhirar! You have not done a loss-making deed in this trade of yours.

Chapter on What Has Been Narrated Regarding Dimaad al-Azdi, may Allah be pleased with him
Hadith Number: 11750
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Dhamad Azdi (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Makkah Mukarramah and saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) being harassed by boys who were following him. He said: O Muhammad! I treat madness. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied by reciting this sermon:“Indeed, all praise is due to Allah. We seek His help and His forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evils of ourselves. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide him, and whomsoever He misguides, none can guide him. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.”
Upon hearing these words, Dhamad requested: (Please) recite these words to me again. After hearing these words again, he said: I have heard and know poetry, divination, magic, and soothsaying, but I have never heard such purposeful and comprehensive words as these uttered by Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) until today. These are words that reach the depths of the sea. I also bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the servant and Messenger of Allah. After reciting this testimony, he entered the fold of Islam.
When he became Muslim, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This acceptance of Islam and confession is on your behalf and on behalf of your people. He said: Yes, it is on my behalf and on behalf of my people. After this, a group of the noble Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by the people of Dhamad (may Allah be pleased with him) and took some of their belongings, such as utensils, etc. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: These are the people of Dhamad; return their belongings to them. Thus, the noble Companions returned the looted belongings to those people.

If you pray for my forgiveness, I will not sit down until I have taken them off.”So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed:“O Allah! Forgive Zumrah bin Tha’labah.”Then he quickly went and took off those garments.

Chapter on What Has Been Narrated Regarding 'Amir ibn al-Akwa', may Allah be pleased with him
Hadith Number: 11755
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Dahr Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was going towards Khaybar, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Amir bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him)—he was the uncle of Salamah bin Amr bin Akwa’, and Akwa’s name was Sinan—in any case, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“O son of Akwa’! Come here and recite for us some of your poetry.”So he got down and, at the request of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), recited these rajaz verses:
By Allah, if it were not for Allah, we would not have been guided,
Nor would we have given charity, nor would we have prayed.
Indeed, when people transgress against us,
And if they intend to cause discord, we refuse.
So send down tranquility upon us,
And make our feet firm if we meet (the enemy).
By Allah, if it were not for Allah’s mercy and guidance, we would not have found guidance, nor would we have given charity, nor performed prayers. We are those people that when others oppress us or intend to transgress against us, we do not tolerate such behavior from them. O Allah! Send down tranquility and reassurance upon us, and if we encounter the enemy, keep us steadfast.
