فَضَائِلُ الْقُرْآنِ
Virtues of the Qur'an
Hadith Number: 91
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا هشيم ، قال: اخبرنا حصين ، قال: اخبرنا عبيد الله بن عبد الله ، قال: رايت عبد الله بن عباس : " يسال عن عربية القرآن، فينشد الشعر" .
Ubaidullah bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I saw Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) being asked about the Arabic of the Qur'an, so he would recite poetry (to explain it).

Hadith Number: 92
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا هشيم ، اخبرنا مغيرة ، عن إبراهيم ، قال:" كانوا يكرهون ان يتاولوا شيئا من القرآن عندما يعرض من احاديث الدنيا، قيل لهشيم نحو قوله: جئت على قدر يا موسى سورة طه آية 40؟، قال: نعم" .
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) says: They disliked interpreting any verse of the Qur'an during worldly conversations. Hashim (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: Like the statement of Allah Almighty, ﴿جِئْتَ عَلَى قَدَرٍ يَا مُوسَى﴾ [سورہ طہ: 40] (Moses! You have come at the appointed time)? He replied: Yes.

Hadith Number: 93
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا هشيم ، قال: اخبرنا جويبر ، عن الضحاك ، قال: " لولا تلاوة القرآن، لسرني ان اكون صاحب فراش حتى اموت، وذلك ان المريض يرفع عنه الحرج، وتكفر عنه خطاياه، ويكتب له بصالح ما كان يعمل" .
Dhahhak (may Allah have mercy on him) said: If it were not for the recitation of the Qur'an, I would have preferred to remain bedridden until I died, because the legal hardship is lifted from the sick person, his sins are erased, and the reward for his good deeds that he used to do while healthy is written for him.

Hadith Number: 94
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا هشيم ، عن العوام بن حوشب ، عن ابي عبد الله الثقفي، قال: اخبرنا رجل من اهل المدائن، قال: سمعت سلمان الفارسي ، يقول: " كل ما لم يذكر الله عز وجل في القرآن، فهو من عفو الله عز وجل" .
Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whatever Allah the Exalted has not mentioned in the Qur'an is included in forgiveness (pardon) from Allah the Exalted.

Hadith Number: 95
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا هشيم ، قال: حصين ، عن عبد الله بن عروة بن الزبير ، قال: قلت لجدتي اسماء كيف كان يصنع اصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا قرءوا القرآن؟، قالت: كانوا كما نعتهم الله عز وجل: تدمع اعينهم، وتقشعر جلودهم، قلت: فإن ناسا هاهنا إذا سمعوا ذلك تاخذهم عليه غشية؟، فقالت: اعوذ بالله من الشيطان!" .
Abdullah bin Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I asked my grandmother, Sayyida Asma (may Allah be pleased with her), what the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do when reciting the Qur'an. She replied: They were as Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has described them: their eyes would shed tears and their skins would tremble. I said: There are some people here who, when they hear this, fall unconscious. She said: I seek refuge with Allah from Satan.

Hadith Number: 96
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا هشيم ، قال: اخبرنا مغيرة ، عن إبراهيم ، قال: " يسرى بالقرآن ليلا، فيرفع من اجواف الرجال، فيصبحون لا يصدقون حديثا، ولا يصدقون النساء، يتسافدون تسافد الحمير، فيبعث الله ريحا، فتقبض روح كل مؤمن" .
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Qur'an will be taken up at night, thus it will be removed from the hearts of the people, and when they wake up in the morning, they will neither affirm anything nor affirm women; they will intermingle with each other like donkeys, then Allah will send a wind which will seize the soul of every believer.

Hadith Number: 97
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا سفيان ، قال: اخبرنا عبد العزيز بن رفيع ، سمع شداد بن معقل ، سمع عبد الله بن مسعود ، يقول: " اول ما تفقدون من دينكم الامانة، وآخر ما يبقى الصلاة، وإن هذا القرآن الذي بين اظهركم اوشك ان يرفع، قالوا: وكيف وقد اثبته الله في قلوبنا، واثبتناه في المصاحف؟!، قال: يسرى عليه ليلا، فيذهب ما في قلوبكم، ويرفع ما في المصاحف"، ثم قرا عبد الله: ولئن شئنا لنذهبن بالذي اوحينا إليك ثم لا تجد لك به علينا وكيلا سورة الإسراء آية 86 .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The first thing to be taken away from your religion will be trustworthiness, and the last thing to remain will be prayer. And this Qur'an which is among you, soon it will be taken away. The Companions asked: How will this happen when Allah has preserved it in our hearts and we have written it in the manuscripts? He replied: The Qur'an will be taken away at night, so whatever is in your hearts will be erased, and whatever is in the manuscripts will also be taken away. Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse: ﴿And if We willed, We could surely take away that which We have revealed to you. Then you would not find for yourself concerning it any trustee against Us.﴾ [سورہ الإسراء: 86]

Hadith Number: 98
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا عبد الله بن المبارك ، عن عثمان بن الاسود ، عن حميد الاعرج ، عن مجاهد ، قال: " إذا تثاءبت وانت تقرا، فامسك عن القراءة حتى يذهب عنك" .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: When you are reciting the Qur'an and you yawn, then stop the recitation until the yawning is finished.

Hadith Number: 99
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا عبد الله بن المبارك ، عن عبد العزيز بن ابي رواد ، عن مجاهد ، قال:" كان ربما قرا، وقوم نيام، فيجد الريح، فيمسك عن القراءة حتى تذهب" .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sometimes it would happen that I would be reciting the Qur'an and some people would be sleeping, then when I would feel the wind, I would stop the recitation until it would end.

Hadith Number: 100
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا سفيان ، عن زرزر، قال: سمعت رجلا سال عطاء ، قال: اقرا القرآن، فيخرج الريح مني؟، فقال:" امسك عن القراءة حتى تذهب عنك" .
A man asked the Tabi'i Ata' (may Allah have mercy on him): I recite the Qur'an and wind passes from me! So he replied: Stop the recitation until it is finished.
