Verse (88) His saying, Exalted is He: {So when they entered upon him, they said, "O Aziz, adversity has touched us and our family, and we have come with goods poor in quality, but give us full measure and be charitable to us. Indeed, Allah rewards the charitable"}

نا نا سفيان، عن عثمان بن ابي سليمان، عن ابن ابي مليكة، عن ابن عباس ، انه سئل عن البضاعة المزجاة، قال:" خلق الغرارة، والجرين، والحبل، والشيء" .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked: What is meant by "bida'atun muzjah"? He replied: These are things that are weak, defective, and inferior, such as rag (i.e., ghareerah), thread (i.e., jareen), rope (i.e., habl), and other things that are weak or defective.

Muharib bin Dithar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated from his uncle that I used to pass by the house of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and would hear him saying: O Allah! You called me and I responded, and You commanded me and I obeyed, and this is the time of sahar (pre-dawn), so seek forgiveness for me. One day I heard him saying these words, so I said to him: I have heard you saying these words at the time of sahar. So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Indeed, Sayyiduna Ya'qub (peace be upon him) delayed his sons until the time of sahar.

Saeed (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I heard Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on him) reciting this verse:“My Lord, You have given me sovereignty and taught me the interpretation of dreams. Creator of the heavens and the earth! You are my Protector in this world and the Hereafter. Cause me to die a Muslim.”That is, O my Lord, You have granted me kingship and taught me the knowledge of interpreting dreams. O Creator of the heavens and the earth! You are my Protector in this world and the Hereafter; cause me to die as a Muslim. Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Our master Yusuf (peace be upon him) made this request when his parents were gathered with him and he was happy, so he prayed to his Lord to cause him to die and join him with the righteous.

Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) said:“And most of them do not believe in Allah except while they associate others with Him”(__QUR_N__). That is, they knew that Allah alone is their Lord, Creator, and Provider, but despite that, they committed shirk.
