Chapter: Polytheism and Hypocrisy – Applying the name“hypocrisy”to one who delays Asr prayer until the sun is between the horns of Satan
Hadith Number: 259
Alaa bin Abdur Rahman narrates: I was present in the service of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), I and another companion with me. We visited him after the Zuhr prayer, so he inquired: "Have you people performed the Asr prayer?" We replied: "No!" So he said: "Both of you perform the prayer in the room." When we finished, he performed a lengthy prayer. When he turned towards us after completing his prayer, the first thing he said to us was: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is the prayer of the hypocrites. One of them keeps delaying the prayer until the sun is between the two horns of Satan, then he stands up and pecks four times (performs the prayer hastily), and he remembers Allah very little in that prayer."

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not tell you about the prayer of the hypocrites? He does not perform the Asr prayer until, when the sun is between the two horns of Satan (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) or until it reaches the horn of Satan, then he pecks at it like a rooster. Alaa bin Abdur Rahman narrates: We visited Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) after the Zuhr prayer, and he was performing the Asr prayer. When he finished the prayer, we—or perhaps he—mentioned performing the prayer quickly. Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "This is the prayer of the hypocrites, this is the prayer of the hypocrites." He said this three times: "One of them sits until the sun turns yellow, and it reaches between the two horns of Satan. (The narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words) When it reaches the two horns of Satan, then the person stands and pecks four times." He remembers Allah very little in this prayer.

Alaa bin Abdur Rahman narrates: Once, after offering the Zuhr prayer, he went to the house of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) in Basra. The narrator states: The house of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) was beside the mosque. When he presented himself in his service, he asked: Have you offered the Asr prayer? We replied: We have just come after offering the Zuhr prayer. So Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: You people should offer the Asr prayer! So we offered the Asr prayer. When we finished the prayer, he said: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "This is the prayer of the hypocrites. (A hypocrite) sits watching the sun. Chapter: Polytheism and Hypocrisy – Description of how a hypocrite interacts with Muslims
Hadith Number: 264
The narrator named Abu Ja'far reports: Ubaid bin Umair was delivering a sermon in Makkah Mukarramah. Present with him were Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him), and other noble companions as well. Ubaid bin Umair stated: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of a hypocrite is like a goat between two herds; if it goes towards one herd, it is butted, and if it goes towards the other herd, it is butted." Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: It is not so. At this, Ubaid bin Umair became angry and said: Are you rejecting my statement? Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I am not rejecting your statement, but when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said this, I was present with him. He said this. Upon this, Abdullah bin Safwan asked: O Abu Abdur Rahman! What did the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say? So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: (For the herd) the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used the word "Rabidain" (whereas you used the word "Ghanamain"). Then Ubaid bin Umair or perhaps Abdullah bin Safwan said: O Abu Abdur Rahman! The meaning of both "Rabidain" and "Ghanamain" is the same. So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard it in this way, I heard it in this way. I heard it in this way. (The narrator states) Whenever Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) heard any word from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), he would neither add to it nor subtract from it.

Chapter: Attributes
Hadith Number: 265
It is narrated about Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said regarding this verse: (The command of Allah, the Exalted, is) "Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due." The verse continues up to: "Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Seeing." (Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates) I saw the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he placed his thumb on his ear and his finger, with which he gestures during prayer, on his eye. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The meaning of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, placing his finger on his ears and his eyes is: to clarify to the people that Allah, the Exalted, does not hear by means of an ear that has a hole and a curve, nor does He see with the help of an eye that has pupils, eyeballs, and whiteness. Our Lord is far above and exalted from being likened to anything from His creation; rather, He hears and sees without any instrument, as He wills.

Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty does not sleep, and it does not befit His Majesty that He should sleep. He lowers and raises the scales. The deeds of the day are presented before Him before the coming of the night, and the deeds of the night before the coming of the day. His veil is light. If He were to remove the veil, the radiance of His countenance would burn everything that His sight reaches. He has extended His hand of mercy during the night for the sinner of the day, so that He may accept his repentance during the day, and He has extended His hand during the day for the sinner of the night, so that He may accept his repentance during the night." (This will continue) until the sun rises from the west.

Chapter: Attributes – Evidence that any attribute found in creation is a deficiency and cannot be attributed to Allah
Hadith Number: 267
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him):“Allah Almighty says: The son of Adam calls Me a liar, though he has no right to call Me a liar. The son of Adam abuses Me, though he has no right to abuse Me. As for his calling Me a liar, it is his saying: Allah will not recreate me as He created me the first time. Is recreating him not easier for Me than creating him the first time? As for his abusing Me, it is his saying: Allah has a child, while I am Allah, the One, the Self-Sufficient. I did not beget, nor was I begotten, and there is none comparable to Me.”(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):“Was creating the first time not easier for Allah than recreating?”contains a clear explanation that those attributes which would constitute a deficiency in a person who possesses them, it is not permissible to attribute anything similar to Allah Almighty, because analogy would require that the words should have been ‘more difficult for Me’ instead of ‘easier for Me.’ But the word ‘difficult’ was abandoned because it is among the words of deficiency, and instead, the word ‘easier’ was used, in which there is no aspect of deficiency.
