Chapter on Repentance – Clarification that Mak’hool heard this narration from Umar ibn Na’im as he did from Usama
Hadith Number: 627
اخبرنا عمر بن محمد ، حدثنا عمرو بن عثمان ، حدثنا ابي ، حدثنا ابن ثوبان ، عن ابيه ، عن مكحول ، عن عمر بن نعيم ، حدثهم عن اسامة بن سلمان ، ان ابا ذر ، حدثهم ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:" إن الله يغفر لعبده ما لم يقع الحجاب" قالوا: يا رسول الله، وما وقوع الحجاب؟ قال:" ان تموت النفس وهي مشركة" .
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, Allah Almighty continues to forgive His servant until the barrier occurs." The people asked: "O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by the occurrence of the barrier?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That a person dies in such a state that he is a polytheist."

Chapter on Repentance – Allah’s grace in accepting the repentance of a servant as long as he has not reached the throes of death
Hadith Number: 628
اخبرنا احمد بن علي بن المثنى ، قال: حدثني علي بن الجعد ، قال: حدثنا ابن ثوبان ، عن ابيه ، عن مكحول ، عن جبير بن نفير، عن ابن عمر ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:" إن الله تبارك وتعالى يقبل توبة العبد ما لم يغرغر" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, Allah Almighty accepts the servant's repentance as long as the throes of death have not overtaken him."

اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، قال: حدثنا هارون بن معروف ، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن رجاء ، عن هشام ، عن ابن سيرين ، عن ابي هريرة، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " من تاب قبل ان تطلع الشمس من مغربها تاب الله عليه" .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever repents before the sun rises from the west, Allah Almighty will accept his repentance."

اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ابو بكر بن ابي شيبة ، حدثنا عفان ، قال: حدثنا همام ، قال: حدثنا قتادة ، ان عون بن عبد الله ، وسعيد بن ابي بردة ، حدثاه انهما سمعا ابا بردة ، يحدث عمر بن عبد العزيز، عن ابيه ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " لا يموت رجل مسلم إلا ادخل الله مكانه النار يهوديا او نصرانيا" ، قال: فاستحلفه عمر بن عبد العزيز بالله الذي لا إله إلا هو ثلاث مرات، ان اباه حدثه عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ فحلف، فلم يحدثني سعيد انه استحلفه، ولم ينكر على عون قوله.
Awn bin Abdullah and Saeed bin Abu Burdah narrate: Both of them heard Abu Burdah narrate to Umar bin Abdul Aziz, from his father, the saying of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): "Whenever a Muslim dies, Allah puts a Jew or a Christian in his place into Hell."
The narrator states: Umar bin Abdul Aziz made them swear by the name of Allah, besides whom there is no deity, three times that their father narrated this hadith from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), so they took the oath. The narrator named Saeed did not narrate to me that he was made to swear, but he also did not deny Awn's statement.

Hadith Number: 631
اخبرنا ابو خليفة ، قال: حدثنا ابو الوليد الطيالسي ، عن حماد بن سلمة ، عن محمد بن واسع ، عن شتير بن نهار ، عن ابي هريرة ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " حسن الظن من حسن العبادة" .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him):“Having good expectations about Allah is a part of good worship.”

باب حسن الظن بالله تعالى - ذكر البيان بأن حسن الظن بالمعبود جل وعلا قد ينفع في الآخرة لمن أراد الله به الخير
Chapter on Having Good Expectations of Allah – Clarification that good expectations of Allah may benefit one in the Hereafter if Allah wills good for him
Hadith Number: 632
اخبرنا اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، قال: حدثنا هدبة بن خالد القيسي ، قال: حدثنا حماد بن سلمة ، عن ثابت ، عن انس بن مالك ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " يخرج رجلان من النار، فيعرضان على الله، ثم يؤمر بهما إلى النار، فيلتفت احدهما فيقول: يا رب، ما كان هذا رجائي، قال: وما كان رجاؤك؟ قال: كان رجائي إذ اخرجتني منها، ان لا تعيدني، فيرحمه الله فيدخله الجنة" .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two men will come out of Hell and will be presented before Allah Almighty. Then they will be ordered to go towards Hell. So one of them will turn back and say: O my Lord! I did not expect this. Allah Almighty will ask: What did you expect? He will say: I expected that when You have taken me out of it (Hell), You would not return me to it again. So Allah Almighty will have mercy on that person and will admit him into Paradise."

اخبرنا اخبرنا عمران بن موسى بن مجاشع ، قال: حدثنا عثمان بن ابي شيبة ، قال: حدثنا شبابة ، قال: حدثنا هشام بن الغاز ، قال: حدثنا حيان ابو النضر ، عن واثلة بن الاسقع ، قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول:" قال الله تبارك وتعالى: انا عند ظن عبدي بي، فليظن بي ما شاء" .
Sayyiduna Wathilah bin Asqa’ narrates: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say:“Allah Almighty says: I am as My servant thinks of Me. Now it is up to him to think of Me as he wishes.”

اخبرنا اخبرنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم ، قال: حدثنا هشام بن عمار ، قال: حدثنا صدقة بن خالد ، قال: حدثنا هشام بن الغاز ، قال: حدثني حيان ابو النضر ، قال: سمعت واثلة بن الاسقع ، يقول: قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يحدث عن الله جل وعلا، قال: " انا عند ظن عبدي بي، فليظن بي ما شاء" .

اخبرنا اخبرنا محمد بن العباس الدمشقي ، بجرجان، وإسحاق بن إبراهيم ، قالا: حدثنا هشام بن عمار ، قال: حدثنا صدقة بن خالد ، قال: حدثنا هشام بن الغاز ، قال: حدثنا حيان ابو النضر ، قال: سمعت واثلة بن الاسقع ، يقول: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول: عن الله جل وعلا، قال: " انا عند ظن عبدي بي، فليظن بي ما شاء" .

Chapter on Having Good Expectations of Allah – Instruction for the Muslim to have good expectations of Allah, even with little effort in worship
Hadith Number: 636
اخبرنا ابو خليفة ، حدثنا محمد بن كثير العبدي ، انبانا سفيان الثوري ، عن الاعمش ، عن ابي سفيان ، عن جابر ، قال: سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول قبل موته بثلاث: " لا يموتن احدكم إلا وهو يحسن بالله الظن" .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say, three days before his passing: "None of you should die except that he has good expectations from Allah, the Exalted." (That is, every one of you should have good expectations from Allah, the Exalted, at the time of death.)
