Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the time of his death approached, he said: I am relating to you a hadith which I myself heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then surely He sees you. And consider yourself among the dead. And beware of the supplication of the oppressed, for it is accepted. And whoever can come to the ‘Isha and Fajr prayers, let him come, even if he has to crawl.”

Muhammad bin Hajjada, from a man, from one of his friends, from his father whose kunyah was Abu Mushfiq, narrates: He said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the place of Arafah. I came so close to you that the neck of my mount touched the neck of your mount. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me of an action that will save me from Allah’s punishment and admit me to Paradise. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Worship Allah, do not associate anything with Him, establish the obligatory prayers, pay the obligatory zakat, perform Hajj, perform Umrah, and fast in Ramadan. Furthermore, whatever you like for yourself from the people, do the same for them, and whatever you dislike for yourself from the people, keep them safe from it.”( «اشھد» The narrator who said this word is Ibn Hatim Artabai, who is expressing his opinion regarding fasting.)

Sayyiduna Shuraid bin Suwaid Thaqafi رضي الله عنه says: I said,“O Messenger of Allah! My mother has instructed me to free a slave on her behalf, and I have a slave woman from the land of the Nubi people (located in the southern part of Egypt). (Should I free her?)”The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said,“Call her.”(She was called.) The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم asked her,“Who is your Lord?”She said,“Allah.”The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم asked,“Who am I?”She said,“The Messenger of Allah.”The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said,“She is a believer; you may free her.”

Sayyiduna Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said,“O Messenger of Allah! Advise me.”He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Worship Allah as if you see Him, consider yourself among the dead, remember Allah at every stone and tree, and whenever you commit an evil deed, follow it up immediately with a good deed (so that the effect of the evil is erased); for a hidden evil, do a hidden good deed, and for an open evil, do an open good deed.”

Sayyiduna Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said,“O Messenger of Allah! Advise me.”He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Worship Allah as if you see Him, consider yourself among the dead, remember Allah at every stone and tree, and whenever you commit an evil deed, follow it up immediately with a good deed (so that the effect of the evil is erased); for a hidden evil, do a hidden good deed, and for an open evil, do an open good deed.”

Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Patience and forgiving are the best parts of faith."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Faith is the name of patience and forgiveness."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Modesty is a part of faith, and the most modest person in my Ummah is Uthman."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him): "Which link (i.e., good deed) of faith is the strongest?" He replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "To befriend for the sake of Allah, to have enmity for the sake of Allah, to love for the sake of Allah, and to dislike for the sake of Allah."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him): "Which link (i.e., good deed) of faith is the strongest?" He replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "To befriend for the sake of Allah, to have enmity for the sake of Allah, to love for the sake of Allah, and to dislike for the sake of Allah."
